Singapore Zoo :Escaped jaguar recaptured after half an hour

SINGAPORE : There was high drama at the Singapore Zoo on Sunday afternoon when a jaguar escaped from its enclosure.
Luckily, apart from a bit of a scare, no one was hurt and the animal was recaptured half an hour later.
It was business as usual after the incident at the Zoo.
A visitor saw the jaguar escape from its enclosure at about 2pm and sounded the alert.
Zoo officials say the jaguar was on the loose for some 30 minutes just outside its exhibit, within possible reach of visitors.
All visitors were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The enclosure is now closed, as investigations are going on to determine how the jaguar managed to escape.
But most visitors were none the wiser about what had happened.
"Really? We did not know, they didn't tell us. They said nothing happened. They should tell us so we can be more careful and prepared, especially with children around," one visitor said.
"If any animal escapes there should have some alarm system and we can go to one place to hide. Some people were frustrated; they didn't know what's going on," another said.
"For them not to tell us was a good call, as they didn't want to panic people," said another visitor. - CNA -

yah.. from what i remember, there are 4 or 5 jaguars in the enclosure...

Last time also got tiger escaped. And also chimpanzee and cheetah.
How come ah... whenever there is crisis, negative reports, I don't see the 50 year old lady come out and talk to the press one. But glam glam thing she will want to say something. How come ah? -

when we went to the zoo (the club 30 day out) there was a monkey which ran away too.. i think they'll go back when it's feeding time

Last time hor... the tiger escaped from Night Safari during Operating Hours. The visitors actually witnessed the tiger attacking animals. And then the Senior Management guy was on duty that night. So he took the tranquilizer gun to shoot. But missed! The tiger almost charged at him. Lucky another guy with another gun quickly shot the tiger. Now with the 50 year old woman took over, I want to see how she can handle an escaped animal. Wonder whether she can fire a gun or not. -

Some years ago when the Singapore Zoo had on loan from China a few pandas for display, a King Cobra was found to have escaped from its enclosure and slithered into the Panda enclosure. Thankfully it was discovered in time before any pandas could be harmed.
