Honestly, i think you haven't seen the power of pepper sprays. A good can of pepper spray can stop a bear in its track. And by good, it shouldn't have to cost more than 20USD.
Pepper spray will incapacitate a person in a split second. Baygon or whatever nonsense can only serve to temporarily blind a person if lucky. Note, blind only, it means that can still try an shoot you if he has a gun or swing a knife at you. With a good dose of pepper spray, he will be convulsing on the ground for a good 20 min. Enough time for you to run or kill him.
Pepper spray is what you buy in keychain form from souvenir stores.
What i mean is, rather than all the trouble to get mace, those things can startled a person good and long enough for you to use the Off spray can and whack his head.
but ya, even being in the vicinity of a Mace spray isn't a good experience.

Yes they are sold in souvenir stores in North America, i am refering the the chain stores that sells Zippo lighters and does engraving services. They are sold as dog repellents at $12-13 each (back in early 2000). I will not equate them to pepper spray used by police since they are a more diluted form.
Not that i got the concept wrong, but in canada, it is generally understood, pepper spray is referred to by those that is available to civilians whereas mace is what was used by the RCMP (canadian police).
