Regretted studying

Who here regreted studying?
I really regretted studying for a diploma.
My O level results was fairly good. I got 15 points for 5 subjects and 19 points for 6 subjects. I could go to any course that I want in poly or JC.
I went into poly to take accounting n finance because I took principles of accounts in O level and it was my favourite subject and I got A1 for it
But in poly, I realised that the accounts they teach is very different from the principles of accounts that is taught in secondary school. Plus I don't understand what is being taught and my results were mostly C and D. There were only 5 subjects out of a total of 30 subjects that I got B. None of the subjects I got A.
Than I went into ns and completed in oct 07.
Now is my 1st full time job. I wanted to find a accounts job but couldn't find as all the companies say that I got no experience. They don't want to even give me a chance as if having no experience is a crime.
Although now I have a job and I am being paid a diploma graduate salary, but I feel that my this job is pretty easy and even O level graduates could do it.
So i regretted studying a diploma. If I could turn back in time, I will have chosen to go ns after my O level and than start working. -

if you dont go poly and go straight to work, you will also regret not studying poly de. Why? our minds are usually full of regrets over the things we have done. We should learn to be more optimistic.

Quoting from you, you've got 15 for L1R4 and 19 for L1R5 if I'm not mistaken..
So, even if you went into JC, you can't get into Top-Notch JCs and being a 19-pointer will make your life in JC hell as you are just below the borderline ( 20 marks ) by 1 ..
So I guess it makes no difference if you went into JC and rant here again complaining about your JC life.

My friend told me to take a degree so that I could find a better job but I did not want to.. -

How far can you go with O-levels? Ask around. Read the papers. See what kind of qualifications they are asking for.
With the current education structure, about 25% to 30% go to the Uni of each cohort goes into Uni, another 40% or so goes to Poly, and the rest have O-levels and below. So if you just have O-levels, qualifications speaking, you're in the bottom 30% or so. How are you going to compete?
You should be thankful that you have a diploma now. If you find your job boring, then you should do part-time studies to upgrade yourself, get a degree, find a better job.
Surely you don't want to be stuck in this job forever. -
I am MLM con man - no need degree or dip can also earn big $$$. But need heart of steel and no morals.

Can you 100% guarantee that with a degree, you will be able to go very far in the coporate world?

remember that a diploma will stay with you for a long time. So next time when you wanna change job and it requires a diploma, you can use it.

Regardless of O-level, poly or degree, the job market has a job for everyone.
No point regretting. Enroll for professional certification if that helps to value-add your skill set. -

educational qualifications just opens up doors of job opportunities to you. it doesnt guarantee you jobs.
regarding the part about you cant find accounting jobs, could something have gone wrong during your application or interview process? true as a fresh graduate, you dont have much experience but what about your student internship/attachment during your poly days? what did you do during that time? -
hey i dont believe in all these. like that all fresh graduates wouldnt be able to get jobs just because they have no related job experience? then why are there people who can get into jobs related to their diplomas as a fresh graduate? you have to start somewhere. through your resume and interview, play down the part on 'not having experience', show them that you are willing to learn, have a good learning attitude etc strengths that you have to cover your weaknesses. and stay optimistic and confident. which employer likes to see a pessimistic and unconfident potential employee?Originally posted by silverng:It really doesn't help much.

jus take u hav to put ur head down and work for it..
take my cousin for instance, he's a N lvl holder, sign on for army 8 yrs ago and now he's earning 3.8k per month..and he's starting out a biz outside alr...

That's not fairly good, that's below average. Who in the right mind would give a diploma holder an accounting role when they can give it to a degree holder? poly accounts is really v different from ite or sec schools..
i was also v confused, but i got a fren who studied accounts in poly to help me out.. managed to pass lor.
u shouldn't say u regret studying accounts leh.. wat are the jobs that u applied for? did u try audit firms? u know.. accountants wun starve wan.. -

I try those MNC companies. Went for about 5 job interviews and didn't get any jobs and so I chose my current coy even though it is not a accounts job.
Feel so demoralised after 5 job interviews that I didn't want to try any more accounts job and so accepted any job offer that came my way -
