go save then polar bears now, they are drowning ......
the thing about being all righeous about saving the planet. it's so easy to be a hypocrite.
so it's not right to deal with the stray cats, but it's alright to exterminate rats?
it's right to promote CFC free sprays, but yet you burn so much paper money during hungry ghost festivals?
while on one hand you try to solve deforestation by using recycled paper, you drive cars which uses petrols which is collected by invading wildlife's territory and drilling lots of holes on the other?
and my personal favourite, you condemn dolphin-unsafe tuna, but yet you enjoy a good bowl of shark's fin soup.
and not forgetting, some of the vegetables you vegans eat are sprayed with pesticides, which harms the eco system and poison insects and animals and birds too. oh dear. i wonder how you folks sleep at night
If people think the Indian man is cruel, wait till you see this:-

if you people stop being so overly protective, so closed minded and naive, yes there are a lot of evidence showing meat has contributed greatly to global warming.
just face the facts, don't underestimate global warming, it makes u sound really ignorant..
being a vegetarian, giving up meat, especially turning from meat eater
to vegetarian is really not easy i must say, i admire their
determination! they are not convicts, don't deserve any
scoldings
hey at least people try their best,
nevermind if u don't recognize their effort but please do not start
critizing them, if i were u, i would just shut up, cos i myself
couldn't go that far.
i rem reading somewhere in this thread that u people say: o wonder how
many of them are vegans, now that people admit being a vegan, & you
people try to find fault further. what is this, is that all u are
gd at?
the 2 of u really sound like babies! people have already completely gave in to u and left, still don't want to let them off.
thinking that u have beaten them hands down and driven them out, makes
u heros infront of us is it? come on intelligent challenge is one thing. but the 2 of u, i have nothing to
say.
i mean please la, u want to wreck your own image go ahead, u can rip your whole face off we don't care, but please don't try to bring down the image of the whole sgf! we don't want people saying o sgf doesn't welcome newbiews, o people here love to argue
do some good please dumb and fat!! in the future, if u got no solution,
and nothing better to say, don't say, don't start driving people out
and turning sgf into a fighting ground and trying to turn sg into an
animal massacre ground i don't know who r the real pests.
and stop finding fault with anyone and everyone! majority of the people here are very kind hearted and keen in helping!
but if you really want to fight in the future, i suggest u guys start
your own thread, name it "i want to fight and be the hero" there the 2
of u could fight 24/7, fight your whole life, non-stop. just don't
create havoc in other people's threads please, she wants help, not
fight! cb!
anyway yan my best wishes to those cats, i hope they are well! ![]()
Anyway, why did you not care for others that are presented on your dinning table?

nope. i really do admire them. and it's not vegetarians who deserve scolding. it's vegetarians who think that meat-eaters are cruel and heartless that deserve scolding.
being a vegetarian is a personal choice. but don't give me that "i became a vegetarian to save the planet" crap, because it makes you a hypocrite. if you say that you became a vegetarian because you want to live healthily and stuff, yeah i think it's cool. but damn man, you think you're making the world a better place by eating rabbit food, while you're using styrofoam, eating pesticide laced food, taking petrol-using transport, using make up which was tested on lab animals.. etc..
sorry, i don't buy it.
and i don't pick on anyone on sgforum, unless something bugs me. and seeing that indian man being demonized as heartless and cruel while you all shoot your vegetarian mouth off without even understanding his plight is something which bugs me alot. it probably bugs fatum too.
and i don't think i'm wrecking anyone's image here, but i'm here to point out the rubbish that you're dishing out. i'll never place a human being beneath an animal, (not including animal-torturers). and i'll never understand how can you all think that the indian man is in the wrong, when he did nothing wrong in the first place.
pity the animals, whatever, but don't demonize a man when you did not understand his plight.
and i did provide a solution. i agreed with the indian man. if you can't live with the cats, either move out or get the cats out. and obvious solution is get the cats out, which he did. now go hit the salad bar or something, because your narrow-minded hypocritical views disgust me.
i dunno ur being d or what, yes scientists have pointed out that fact, that's what i always tell myself, must watch more documentaries to enrich myself.
go n challenge them. i doubt ur any 1/100 smarter. nobody is perfect, at least do ur best and not critisize others, they might not be able to, but by arguing here pointlessly, definitely cannot solve the problem! at the end of the day, i doubt u know what u'r quarrelling for!
i didn't see her judging u by what u eat, did she say u eat meat, ur cruel, ur whatever whatever? no! so y do u have to be so mean, calling people hypocrite! who is the hypocrite here anyway
and if u think that the indian guy has been wronged, u feel so sad for him, u pity him, u cry for him, u love him, that's ur own biz, don't try to lecture me here! i dun buy in to that shit
anyway enough is enough, what wanna fight until end of the world ah! got nothing better to do is it!

the hypocrite would be the person who preaches love to all creatures (thus we should care for the cats as we would a human), but somehow forgets to include indian men who dislike cats, and in turn, demonizing him into a heartless creature not even worth spitting on much less protecting his dignity and rights. ( i definitely won't be the hypocrite here)
oh, you shouldn't always believe what scientists say. they're always singing a different tune every few years (pluto is now no longer considered a planet, and they discovered a few creatures which they said were extinct). and logically, if everyone continues to dump waste into oceans, chop down forests, and burn rubber tyres, i VERY MUCH doubt that eating salad is going to save the planet.
and just by your sentence:
and if u think that the indian guy has been wronged, u feel so sad for him, u pity him, u cry for him, u love him, that's ur own biz, don't try to lecture me here! i dun buy in to that shit
you've become the hypocrite as i described.
anyway enough is enough, what wanna fight until end of the world ah! got nothing better to do is it!
well, if you're so eager to prove to the world you're the better man, why even bother to argue back? you could prove to be the better man by giving in to me. but you aren't, that's why you're still arguing with me, and by critisizing me for arguing and yet doing so yourself, you're a hypocrite. and even more so, when you stop replying to my posts after i post this, because what i have just said about giving in never once occured to you until now.
you've just proven yourself to be a superifical hypocrite, little man.
some people just don't grow up! whatever!

Hi, i signed up to sg forums specifically for this thread. you should know then, that i love animals, more so beyond that, i have been volunteering at the SPCA for 3 years, been a member since i was 10, and do attachments at vet clinics in my holidays. in short, i think i have a right to put across what i know on this issue.
1. yang is an animal lover, a rather responsible one at that who tries to extend her love to all animals. i know because i have been quietly reading her blog entries for some time. of course when her appeal for help is met by derision such a the likes of dumbdumb! and fatum, it's really discouraging and i think it's natural to flare up when something u're passionate about is being smirked at or put down by others, especially so with "farks" (nice one. really) and rude comments. i don't necessarily agree with some of her anger directed to animal haters, or the indian man, but i understand where it's coming from, which i think is what you cat haters should at least try to do. or is that too tough?
i say that many cat lovers who actually do actively try to bridge the gap between their own love for felines and that of the cat haters, are responsible, becasue they send these wild cats to vets for sterilization which means reduction in stray population without having to resort to killing them. vets do their part by offering discounts to these procudeures. most neighbourhood cats you see with a ear tip sliced off means that they have been sterilized. in short, animal lovers spend time and effort in helping, which is more so than what i can see from detractors in this board. they spend their own money to help these animals which is more than what many typical singaporeans are doing.
to fatum:
please don't go trusting wikipedia in all your naiveness, then citing them as hard core proof for your "i hate cats kill all cats" stance.
toxoplasmosis-- can be acquired from eating raw meat (pork, duck, chicken etc), or from eating cats feces. meaning you can get toxo even without stray cats, even though cats are the definitive hosts. anyway toxo causes mostly infections that are NOT symptomatic, unless your immune system is very weak, like HIV(AIDS) patients.
Giardia-- gawd, giardia can be passed in sooo many ways, mostly from drinking/eating infected water/food by human feces. cats are hardly the only animals that can spread giardia, anyway it's not even determined that giardia can pass to humans by cats!
campylobacter--again, mostly is by transmission from human feces. so why implicate cats? you should make sure u're not so ignorant before making such sweeping statements.
you said cats feces are an "eyesore", and says it's irritating to listen to their "call spring" (haha). but can i ask you, why have you become someone who is willing to readily agree to the expedient way out to these solutions, at the cost of many lives? how can you let yourself agree easily to killing of cats just so you can live in a less noisey place and a supposedly cleaner place? there are lives at stake here, though people like you certainly don't think lives of cats are significant. and that is really disheartening to people like me to spend her free time trying to help animals.
and thank you for your worry about people with cat allergy. so thoughtful. but there are equally as many people allergic to dogs and other animals. and to food. and to pollen in the environment. and even to medicine. do you mean to say that we should eliminate all these too? is that even practical? why direct your blame at cats then!? don't take it out on them just because they have no voice. (besides the cat wailing as you so hate to hear)
"imagine battalions of stray cats and dogs and what not running around wild in the neighbourhood, pooping anywhere .... how ?"
i tell you how. how is by education. education for ignorant people like you, who care more about their own existance in this world than for the co-existance with other species. education to let people who like to displace blame onto animals, to let them know that the issue is not so clear cut and that it's not fair or accurate to so easily blame animals.
i think u're right in ur concern abt the rising number of strays; that is an issue in singapore. i think the government should do more about it. instead, it leaves self funded organisations to fend for themselves. but still, it's never a long term solution to control strays by culling. they're part of our eco system too leh.
in short, fatum, please broaden your mind and heart ok? and your knowledge. though it's ok to be naive, it's never ok to be ignorant, and to CHOOSE to remain so.
pls kill hello kitty and her friends.

how many cats do you have at home ? ... ![]()
funny thread.
When one group want to "cleanse" another group, how do they go about it?
It always start by justification.
They are filthy. They harbour parasites. They are low life. They are not human. They are not like us. We are the superior being.
Whether its "cleansing" animals or humans the process is the same.
hi dumbdumb!
"i like animals too, but if you're going to be a zealot, it's got to be more than just sitting behind a computer and type "FIGHT THE POWER", you know?"
yes i know. i'm not one of those people. and neither is yang. however, there is a limit to how much we can do, how much we're capable of doing, if detractors who have baseless arguements stand in the way. without support from the public (ie, what yang was trying to do), how much can we help animals? we're their only voices.
"so the only solutions i see (apart from tolerating) is either you move yourself, or you move the cats. and it's alot cheaper to move the cats."
mmm alot cheaper, yea but hello maybe you've forgotten one important thing-- the way the cats are"moved" as you simplified it. they aren't merely uprooted and shifted away; they're culled. their lives are curtailed, for what reasons--intolerance, and inability to understand or to forgive. you know a society's advancement and maturity can be told by the way they treat animals. guess this says alot about us singaporeans.
"i don't know man.. you don't come in here discrediting someone, then lose a debate then tell us to leave you alone as if you're the victim. i think you should apologise to some of us."
hm. i think no need. unless u're willing to apologise to the rest of us too. for being rude, for calling people "idiots" blah blah. and i don't think she lost the debate. i think she merely didn't put her points across well enough. especially cos it's hard to get a bunch of hard headed people to understand, poor girl la. what she merely wanted was justice or at least home for the cats. neither of which she got.
"every resident have the right to have their properties protected from shit, urine, and claw marks."
i agree, but not, and NEVER at the cost of taking the life of these animals. why do you want to encourage and breed a society of people who resort to killing for the mere sake of convenience? how vulgar and inhumae la. the very reason why humans are at the top of the food chain is because we have a higher order of thinking, and are capable of compassion and sympathy. it's terrible to abuse these advantages, instead of using them to better the lives of not just our own but those species trying to survive around us too. you said "don't tell me to put myself in the cat's shoes. because animals don't have the capability to be courteous to others. they run on instincts, and have no sense of self-restrain." yes!!! omg it's precisely because they run on instincts and do not have the same capabilities for thoughts that are more in depth, to have social graces etc that we MUST use these abilities we do have to help to maintain a balance, to look out for these creatures who otherwise can be overpowered by humans easily! how can we, who claim to have "capabilit(ies) to be corteous", not respect the life of a wild animal? anyway i'm just curious. how can you say you like animals, (cos they're pretty. erm. ok?) and yet be so nonchalent about the culling of cats?
"and i notice the people with "lesser compassion" are people who have experienced such annoyance first hands. while those "cat lovers" never did. "
please go out more often and notice more then. i not just "Experience such annoyances" as you so nicely put it "first hand(s)", i pick up their poo, get scratched, get bitten at etc. i'm sure the cat lovers put up with other bad experiences too, having to catch these wild cats to put them in cages which they resist, so that they can be neutered and not reproduce. all for the sake to make people who hate cats try to be more tolerant.
can you see this loosing battle we're fighting, especially when there are so many people not willing to even try to understand why we put up with this shit? it's beyond simple love for animals. it's to do with what's right and what's wrong. it's definitely not right to kill these cats just because you cannot tolerate more.
animal lovers often come off and zealous people, but only because they cannot knock any sense into animal haters, who have grieviances over comparatively mundane issues.
"not like he hired some hitman to take out the cats. please la. you all are overdramatizing something simple.that's not all to it. it's the bigger picture. please try to understand abit more? afterall, that's really the least you can do. i think this issue affacts you alot, or you wouldn't bother posting so often. so maybe you can try to get the alternate picture too. animal lovers aren't all talk no action-- we aren't all blinded by our loves for animals.
that's all to it."
so now isn't it time for you to put yourself in the shoes of other humans, as you passionately stated?
i won't post anymore. but i really hope we can be more tolerant and understanding as a society. i mean, i think most of us here are young people. so it's abit scary to think of what's in store. thanks for reading, if you've bothered.
clarification: i don't hate cats or animals. i am just pro-human. between a choice which benefits human or animals, i will choose to protect my own species first.
i'm just here to say that the indian man must have a strong reason why he wanted the cats out of his neighbourhood so badly, so until you know why he hates cats that much, don't demonize him.
sorry about the no post thing, haha i think i just broke that promise. but really, my intention was not to demonise him. in fact i hardly mentioned him.
what makes my heart ache is to read comment after comment of justifying your stand, some valid, mostly misconstrued. really, it's totally normal to be pro humans, but surely you can take animals into account too, and find a middle ground?
*though it's wrong to be pro human when it comes to comparing scratches on a car (that was the main reason the indian gentleman cited so eloquently in the video) with the culling of the cats who might or might not have done it. thanks.
you may not have demonized him, but there are others here who did. especially the lady in the video
and until you buy a car with your own money and have get have your tyres punctured by some rats sharpening their teeth, then come tell me how pro-animal you are. ![]()
because until you do know how it feels, i'm very much inclined to feel that you guys are just full of it. not that i disagree with your efforts to relocate the cats, i think it's cool so long as the indian man is happy with the arrangements.
so as long as the cats are relocated, whether by kind hearted hippies, or by other authorities, i think the indian man would be rather satisfied, knowing that his $40,000 car will be safe from strays.
and i didn't get your post about me not putting myself in the indian man's shoes. why do you think i'm so annoyed with you hippies in the first place? it's because i took the time to understand that the indian man was mad because his $40,000 car was damaged needlessly, while you guys have too much cat fur in your lungs, which probably obstructed airflow into your brains, to be unable to think for a second that no human would bother flying into such a rage over a few stray cats unless something really drastic happened.
