cuz i wanna teach art and music, and NIE - the national institution of education does not allow that. and i have to be tied down by the government after that.

i want both art and music, at pri sch level. but i can only choose one if i stay in a local uni. harvard? haha, abit difficult ah.

yea, but an overseas uni. they allow me to do both cuz of the flexibilty of the electives. but since i want to do education degree, they use a different system, and im afraid it wont be reconignsed here. so what did u choose in the end? and y?

physics. i think pure maths will be less practical and more boring. what kind of level of teaching are you hoping to do? I had a friend in uni who have a high piano grade and was qualified to teach it. she did a course on social studies in nus though. maybe you can major in arts, but still keep up with your music playing?

even if u get an Bachelor in Education overseas, to teach in Singapore in both subjects?
i think u still need to go NIE for training, then end up still teach 1 or 2 core subjects as required by MOE employment contract.. -
Depends on what you are planning to study....check if they are relevant to your course and if they are recognised in sg before going abroad. Go to IDP. They can give you sound advice.

im hoping to do balchelor. yea, i wanna teach in private schools. and im interested in doing early childhood too. u know teach kids art and music. cuz its so weakly cultivated in singapore. i went to idp already. they adviced me against this option cuz like u said, i still have to go thru nie.

well, i am sure that music and art teachers are in demand here, so maybe you can just stay and follow the local route of concentrating in music... after which you should be able to take intermediate courses on arts.
taking both at once can be really taxing, and you might miss out in things in life like love and friendship

makes sense too. i hold a design diploma, so i didnt wanna give up on that aspect. yes, apparantly the 2 are too taxing, thats y they dont allow both.

Avg grades and wanna go into a good Uni. Can try Uni of Minnesota, great deal right now. with fees reduced from US$22K to US$14K for international students. College of Liberal Arts should let U customize your major. NIE/NUS has known to send Scholars there for Phd in Child Psychology.

im looking at auckland university in newzealand. and new castle university in auzzie. i talked to the ppl in idp, but however they adviced me against it cuz if i wanna come back to work in local schools, i will still have to go through nie. never thought of going anywhere further then down under. seems faraway from home.
