i was watching this TV show about nonya and peranaka culture hosted by Michelle Chia yesterday (Wed, 8 pm, channel 8).
in the show, they say nonyas are the result of immigrant chinese guys marrying local malay girls, and the malay girls convert the religion to taoism etc.
how come like this one? then the malay girl's family also accept meh?
i thought usually is people convert to malay / muslim, and not the other way round.
somemore, they also eat pork! WTF?

depends on people personal choice. We cant judge something because the majority of people practice a certain thing.
I personally know a guy who was a muslim and coverted to Buddism. There's also a trend of malays muslims converting to christianity. So can't really say.

no, actually most peranakans are chinese...the early generation of chinese migrants. They came here n assimilated the local malay culture into their chinese culture...such as the food, dressing, language etc.
not necessarily have to marry the malays.

No. Not all malays are muslim, neither are you anything in the start.
