I am staying at Ang mo kio Ave 3 Blk 56X (hope these guys sees this....)
I been staying there for years, get married and have a baby daughter and happliy until recent months.
There are these groups of students that move it to my block just a floor directly below my house and man they are chain smokers....
Day and night from as early as 7 plus till pass midnight smoke smoke smoke...
What can I do before my family gets cancer because of NOT smoking....

How big are their cigarettes?Borrow the Fan from the Iron Fan Princess and fan the smoke back at them?
Or phone fire department and tell them you have been smelling suspicious smoke emitting from the unit below you and you suspect their unit might be on fire....but slow fire for few days already.

The smell of cigs smoke can be really irritating and unhealthy.I will try to complain to the town council, (who takes care of the flat?) or some authority. & keep your finger cross that they can do something about it. If cannot, I guess you have to shut your windows permanently. Maybe can also call the quit smoking hotline and ask them to advice you .

complain to town council. i tink maybe they smoke at the window cos dun wanna stink up their own house. tt's why the smoke is affecting ur family. u tell the town council to tell those pple to smoke indoors and dun stand at the window.

Confirm reasonable.
They just need to smoke because they have the addiction, it's not because they purposely want to make life lousy for others.
Can try suggesting to them some other smoking points. -

but if they r those beng beng one, then u tell them nicely they oso think u kaopei them one how? anyways, safer to at least go with an adult male or 2...not to say they confirm will aggressive, but its always good to take precautions... -

edit: make sure you get their uniform and faces clearly before stomp and send to school also .

I also face such problem sometimes. Once a while I can smell the smoke from living room window. I dun know if it is from downstair's or just a floor above me. But it doesn't always happen, still it irritates me. I hate the smoking smell, it will make me frustrated and get angry....rawrrr.........
May be can call up to town council and seek for their advice about how you should approach and tell your neighbours without having some urgement or fight.

be careful what you wished for, it was like that over here smoking and some jerk liked to burn the buttons in so you can't press them. and all that changed after a new pest moved in.
somebody started pissing in the lift and after that happened no one bothers to deface the lift, no one burning the buttons, no one writting on the walls. no one wants to be in the lift with his ciggy. no one wants to be inside the lift any longer then needed.
its a hard choice, a lift full of smoke or going in in the morning and feeling that the lift's a bit warmer than usual with a pool of yellow pungent liquid covering 3/4 of the floor.

Well since your the man of the house and you married your wife and had a kid, why don't you go take action like going up there and talk to them about it? If they don't listen, just go and tell the authorities about it and let them deal with the issue.

What is the method or reason for cigarette smoke passing through an uninsulated floor into premises below?
I have a problem with my lettings agent that I rent my home through. Despite me, telling this man that the couple above must insulate between the floor and ceiling he overode my appeal and gave them carte blanche on DIY. 6 months on and the nicotine entering the property is so bad that I am now using an inhhaler and distressingly my cat is dying of nicotine poisoning (he has a weak liver and could not metabolise the poison). When told of the problems of noise and pollution because of their floor they started campaign bullying & harrasment so I went to the letting agent for help I suggested warm & cold air thermals were swapping and carrying the smoke between the floors as they always open 2 sides of windows on the building. I was also told that nicotine is heavier than air. I called in the councils ernviro dept whose report states inadaquate insulation but I need them to stop smoking and agent keeps saying floor beaded so can't be nicotine/draughts passing through so I need the factshttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070916143906AAESXyc

tell them that u have a long history of asthma in the family and ur wife happens to have asthma too.. and tell them that u will call the police next time if they smoke too much and the air gets into ur house..... "It's for your own good, I am preventing god from taking a portion of your life away
