Firstly, Northumbria is not a degree mill. It does have a reasonable reputation although not much in the field of business. You can do some research on UK universities to be sure of that.
Also, while the degree programme allows you to go straight to the final year due to exemptions because of a local diploma or their MIS diploma, that does not mean you could finish it in a year. This programme is only offered part time. Every module will be conducted 2-3 times a week and only from 7-10 PM on weekdays or 2-5PM on weekends. This effectively means it is almost impossible to take too many subjects at one go. If you wanna stretch yourself while working, of cos that is possible, and if you are not working, then fine. But if not, maybe stretching it over 3 semesters might be a viable option to give yourself space to finish the programme well.
For a business degree, unlike a Masters, my personal opinion is that all it matters is that you graduate. I had my degree from Curtin through distance learning too. I am now working in junior management in a MNC and nobody in my company, HR or my boss cares whether my degree is from Curtin or whether I did it in Australia or Singapore. Of cos it pays to be prudent and do your research. As long the university in question has a reasonable reputation, there is no reason why the program will not benefit you in your career.

Now, if you are MUIS, maybe you would. To put this into context, this university attracts students who already decided that they wanna pursue Islamic Knowledge etc as their path. If you are keen to be an engineer, of cos this university is not for you. Right?

It's not cheap if you want to say take a degree course to upgrade especially if you are retrenched.
Worst if you have got family and housing committments and need the money for day to day living.
Damn if you do, damn if you don't. ![]()

Thats also true. Of cos a degree is a huge financial committment so you gonna consider it over properly, but if you have always wanted to do it, then this could be the best time.
If it's from MIS, it most probably be recognised in SG.
