  If you are unhappy with the rules, then either move into a place where you like the rules or own your own place and you can have any rules you like.  Tenants can also work out their own rules as well.

  If my housemate brought their gf/bf's home, I would bring my gf over. We will compete through which girlfriend can moan the loudest.

  But then I never encounter before, when I bring my gf to my place. My housemates don't care because they either go out or they bring their own friends over.
