  Fatal frame... I once got tio chua by the sister when I did a 180 turn... I forgot she's following behind and I was in the camera mode... Oh, I was playing at midnight without the lights on  It wasn't fear, more like shocked

  I think,

  They (Game makers) wanna portray a weaker gender, someone who would look defenceless, perhaps gain some pity from the game players themselves.

  The need to defend them, to keep them alive in the games.

  Anyway, if you use a male in fatal frame.

  Like, wtf, no balls to fight the ghost with fists meh? I don't play sissy characters.

  I've seen male protagonists such as the ones in Nang Nak and Shutter.

  I think why it's always female protagonist is because they're somehow able to emotionally relate more to the situations and thus, provide a greater sense of fear into viewers as they too starts putting themselves in the shoes of these ladies.

  Male protagonists are also usually haunted when they do something wrong, unlike females, who get haunted even if they did nothing, thus you don't really care if the male dies.
