I have always wonder about this question..whenever i go to chinatown..
I go there for food, cheap and quality food..though it needs at least 30mins to be in the queue before it's your turn..
Qn: What's your impression of Chinatown?
#1: It's a place where old people and China people hang out
#2: There's nothing interesting about Chinatown
#3: I don't know of any valuable cultural heritage of that place
#4: I like to explore Chinatown, but there's no proper tour guide specialist in that area
#5: I heard a lot of positive sharing of Chinatown, and would like to explore it on foot when I have a chance to do so myself.
#6: Others: Your thoughts (perhaps)?

i think it must be it la..
it was crowded from the day it started operations..when they attracted passer-by's attention with the loud korean singers' MTVs intially..
that restaurant is a branch from korea right..thus it's popularity..
if it's the same restaurant..go around 2-3pm plus..it's only half-filled..can still get seats..
though i only walk past it..
if u think so loh
teehee~

you so selfish
want tour guide to chinatown is it? call me, hourly tour guide rates apply.
Its not chinatown anymore.
Its little china.
Newly renovated Chinatown Point is worth a visit.
I like the Chinese style decor of the new National Library Branch at the Chinatown Point.
i go there for korean food too :)
I dont know but every one saying it is the town where every people work hard and allways woke up
Chinatown Point gives three experiences. One side of the building with a carpeted circular walkway from level one to the top level gives the experience of shopping in Orchard road
The other side of the building gives the experience of the middle class shopping.
The two basement levels gives the experience of the neighborhood shopping.
my impression : plenty of old people around, everyday is like CNY feeling, going back to the feelings of 2 generation back.
ai li huan loh, u ask for wat
would you guys visit Chinatown on a regular basis rather than only making it a once a year visit during CNY period?
i was just thinking..with the new Chinatown point, that's nothing but a duplicate of another shopping mall without any Chinese theme (except for the NLB)..
Is Chinatown gradually losing it's place??..or is it about to be taken over the the people from China?
I visit Chinatown often..but somehow..it gradually starts to sink in me that I don't really like visiting Chinatown as much as I like in the past..
The modernization is taking away the appeal of Chinatown as a Cultural place for the Chinese..isn't it?
i dun even go there during CNY.
no loss in the chinese culture element
there are chinese all around, even in the "modern" Chinatown Point
yes, the library is dope.
other than some ah peks stealing 40 winks in there.
anyway, do u need to go chinatown for the chinese culture feel?
u can just go anywhere in SG ![]()
i think the uncles at chinatown is a distinct feature that makes it chinese..although they are opportunist with some dirty thoughts..
The Chinese in Chinatown are China nationals rather than locals..especially if you come out from Outram Park MRT, there're guarantee at least 2 facial employees wearing purple color clothes trying to hardsell to convince you to go inside and get a free facial checkup..though they didn't hardsell as much as they used to like in the past.
I go there not for the cultural feel but to relax and have a filling stomach..since I go either to the dessert shop..or the market for food..
In the past..I go there I was younger..when the originally Polyclinic was still around, and the old Chinatown market wasn't being rennovated yet..
The atmosphere is different..but still acceptable..
the only thing constant in this world is change
just how fast
too old ppl kaobeh
too new ppl kaobeh
at least they bother to try to preserve the "shophouses" style architecture.
and the library is a good start on "preserving" the culture there
you're right..
at least they know something is wrong and are gradually working on it..
no there is nothing wrong
u r the one who think there is something wrong ![]()
maybe it's because I still visit Little India also since young..
but the only difference is that even as times change..Little India still remains very much the same..even for Mustafa that expands rapidly..it still have the same Indian element inside..
Chinatown didn't maintain that much similarity..
