Today my parent's worker left work after getting his salary for this month. Cos the worker always late for work and sometimes dont even turn up so my parents decided to cut his pay. Is it illegal for the worker to do such acts?

But regrading the bad reference thing, how is the New employer gonna know tat this employee has a bad record. As in, the old employer and the new new employer also wont meet each other...

Can check de lah. You ask the person what job he does before and call his former employer. This is the #1 tactic used by HR departments. Since your parents do not have any HR experiences/department, no choice, must call up former employer before hiring. They were charged under the Criminal law temperory privisons act for illegal strike
Look on the bright side, better that employee leaves before he casues more destruction or harm to your parents business. Disgrunted employees might hinder productivity and cause a fall in quality of goods and service. Some may even sabotage the business....
