Don't be mistaken. The 20% of foreigners in my time were very intelligent and very strong in their studies. Only the top singaporeans in my group could take them on. Most of the time, the bottom 20-30% are all Singaporeans.
Then 2 batches later, the policy of foreigners changed. Previously, while they pick the Chinese AFTER their pre-uni exams, they switched to picking the Chinese BEFORE the pre-uni exams. This resulted in an influx of foreigners which aren't as capable as the past.
To me, its simple, I support the policy if they bring in top people, but when they lower their standards and even up the quota for foreigners, I find the policy becomes a problem. -
You talking about election year is it? They did give out money to citizens during election year, but after election they raise the price of everything to recover the loss. The money payout to citizens during election year was just an investment, after they won the elections they increase price of everything so they can make a profit. other countries have someting to do with the unhappiness they faced in this country? -

The government should consider all their policies with respect to democracy. No sane person from a westernised democracy would contemplate taking up citizenship in a hybrid regime, where personal rights and freedom is curtailed.
Even some citizens from communist China do not want to take up citizenship when offered.

Shows that we are losing more citizens through migration than the authorities would let us know.
If the trend in decreasing citizens continue, when we reach 6.5 million population in 50 years time, we would have 50.70% citizens, while Permanent Residents and Others would make up 49.30%.
(71.5%) X (1 - 0.00685)^50 = 50.70%

I don't feel any sense of belonging to Singapore.
Its a place with no soul, and morals are steadily going downhill. A place where its more "value foreigners than locals", and we locals must serve NS to protect the foreigners some more.
To me, top notch singaporeans are more like mercenaries whom can ply their trade anywhere.
The only thing holding me back are my parents. Otherwise I would have uprooted a long time ago since its not just money that I am looking for, but rather
1) a better std of life for future generations
2) a place where it doesn't worship money like god, and morals are just as impt
There's nothing that our leaders have done that show they are moral leaders. All I see are money-grubbers *shrugs* -
