Remember the time when LHL said something like 'The people support IR'? It was all over the papers. My sample size may be small relative to the entire population (maybe just a 100 of my frens and relatives), but basically, > 7 out of 10 of them say no.
But then again you wouldn't believe me. I din write that number down then, and ask them to sign on the document as proof
Erm.. i dun think kids understand politics.. of coz we will want proof, evidence and stats to support our views or else it will regarded as hot air.
I dont think the Tsunami victims will know there is something seriously wrong, as they just didnt connect the strange signs as an impending disaster.

I must stress....I may be a malaysian and I love my country(except the stupid govt) I love spore equally much too. Because I received my educations here and is in debt to all my wonderful teachers. I respect the young LKY very much because of what he has done to the local Chinese here. Spore is one place where malaysian chinese can be freed of discrimination and LKY made it possible. Hence, that explained my gratitude. I dont hate the PAP nor am I a blind follower of PAP. It is just that I could not understand why ppl hate PAP so much and could not express ur ideas but whine all day long here.
As for allentyb, I understand many PRCS here have bad habits. But if we were to discriminate them, aint u like the past colony masters who discriminate our forefathers? I read romance of three kingdom too....these are the virtue that used to flow in china....but communism kills it. If u have any prcs fren who have bad habits,why not correct him. In this world we learn from each others! Discrimination gets u nowhere. -

Best solution is the leave Sillypore and set up shop and home elsewhere....
This nation will always be a nation of whiners...The only real beneficiaries are those who come over to work from Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, PRC, Indonesia.....I'd say that its good to get them in by the millions to wake up Sillyporeans...

Most of the time, when they announce something, it is already decided.
The IR was also like that. Bring it out, debate, debate, debate, then said ok we will go. Right at the start, they have already decided to go.
That is what I mean about PAP. They decided something and refuse to listen anymore. In the past it was really blatant (shut up, we know better), now they are more diplomatic (I understand your concerns, but...) -

aside from your normal 4 A level subjects, I think you have S papers, where you can get more As. In my time, its 6 A's max, now I wonder what is the 7th A.
But that aside, I find it so childish after I started work, that we whine so much about the results. There are so many other things that can determine your success in life. Thinking back, I cried coz I missed my 1st class by 0.001, I think I am also being childish.
In the end, I think we are brought up in too boring an env, that all we care about are results., and we don't care about any things in life, such as the sports (don't know about now, but most of the straight As students are clerks in my time), the arts, the fun, etc.
We are such a boring place to be in.
The other day, I was watching Discovery Channel, and they were naming the top 50 places to visit in the world. I see Hong Kong (rank 19), San Francisco, New York, Shanghai, etc. No Singapore (hahaha). The point is, we are REALLY Boring on a whole as a nation and as people. It is probably the people that make the place fun, and since we are boring people, Singapore is a boring country. -

i'd like to see a system where you first vote your government in.. the ministers and all, before voting the MPs in.
That way, a party can have control of all the damn mp seats in parliment should they manage to win all, but the office holders will come from another party. -
Where did all the pro-PAP hardcore supporters go?
I am still waiting for a rebuttal on the following:
(1) Paying 5/6 star price for mediocre govt service, and they blame us for depending on them
(2) Double standards in the govt. MPs are part-timers, so taking care of the people is a simple job?
(3) GST 2% increase, then immediately talk about increase their pay. What a fiasco
(4) Good performance? The world goes up, we go up. The world goes down, we go down. That's hardly good performance. A great fund manager is able to generate positive returns in a negative market. I haven't seen that for this new batch of people in the govt yet. -
