Pity the Singapore youths

When people see this:
They think to themselves that it is her and not me. They do not see how it translate into fear in their own hearts.
They live in a cimate of fear the the fear in their hearts clouds the thinking in their brain.
This is why some hostages start to actually worship the hostage takers. This is why you see so many people defending indefensible policies of dictators. This is why North Koreans worship the "Dear Leader".
Fear in their hearts cause them to become unthinking zombies.
Ig you allow terrorists to instill fear in you, the terrorist would have won and that is even more damaging than what a bomb can damage. Yet we have a government that has no qualms instilling fear in the citizenry withs acts like this:

andrew, lets draw an analogy to make you understand what you are.
A staunch Christian reads a lot of the bible and he becomes rather convinced that God is there and he starts to fear God. Everyday, every night he prays. So much so that he starts to think the rest of the world should also fear God and he starts to preach the word of God.
You are very much the same. You allowed a dictator to enter your mind then you start to read a lot about it and you become very convinced that the dictator is real and you start to fear. Everyday and night, you start to pray in front of a computer with links to internet web sites. So much so that you start to think the rest of the world should also fear the dictator and you start to preach the word of "fear the dictator".

That is how "special" I am. Not everyone gives in to their fears and start to worship the people that put the fear in their hearts. -

Yes, WP did have astonishing support at the rallies. And indeed they are special. Most are armchair critics but these rare few individuals stoodup AGAINST all ODDS. Put ourselves in their shoes in the environment we are in, and we may appreciate their effort. They risk it all for us. How many have what it takes to do this? few and far between. most are waiting for someone to stand up for them. But for unknown reason, they LOST.
I think the turnout indicates a deep desire to have alternative voices that represents another group of the people.
The people may see that the system can be even better with a more substantial opposition.
A governement in a democracy is formed by ruling party and the Opposition.
This is undeniable truth that there is a real need for an effective Opposition.
Let the ruling and opposition parties debate in front of the people who then decides how the country can be better. How policies can be tweaked. If only 1 party decides everything for the People, what role does the people play in improving the country? This is where overwhelming control by 1 party is undesirable to me, from a Demoracy point of view. Ask yourselves. Is singapore based on Democracy or not? Does it want to be so? If so, lets make it vibrant, all encompassing and inclusive of all views.
non-violent activities to reach out to the people should be allowed in the name of democracy. This basic freedom should exist. And I see that only the Poeple can make or break this now. Since WP has been rejected already. Their only hope is if the people support them.
Large companies use tag team approach in that, a lead person presents his plans and solution. He will request for a 2nd opinion, and someone to challenge his plans and solutions so that they reach the best possible solution. Singapore INC. It should follow the same approach. Debate is positive and leads to the best possible solution. No leader should avoid debate by avoiding questions if he is indeed capable to handle the truth.

WP lost because people are apathetic and gripped with fear. People that are apathetic and fearful pay for it by having to settle their mortgage over long periods of their lives while the fear mongers sit there laughing at the apathetic people's stupidity and take millions of public money for their own pockets.

A person with too much resentments inside cannot go far. For instance, he will be easily instigated to lose his temper and his control, easily manipulated by others.

What our youths have today, are mostly provided for by their parents. It is only right that they show appreciation to those provided for them. They are entitled to be dissatisfied with the society, the schools.... and if such dissatisfaction drives them to improve for the benefits of the society as a whole, well and good. But if they grow up just want to "voice their opinion" and expect others to make the changes, huhhh....I'd tell them they are lucky to be born in Singapore, even if their brains may be dulled. if they were born in a small town in a remote region in China or India, they may think they can think skillfully but they would have a lot more to think than the youths in Singapore, they would still be dissatisfied with the society, the schools, blah blah blah but they won't make any difference to anybody.
Is this an unconcious expression of your own frustrated inability to act in the present political context in Singapore ?
How certain are you that a child in China and India has alot more to think than a child born in Singapore - persumably your line of thoughts are comparing the life of a child in the rural agrarian environment of China and India to that of a child growing up in a metropolis in Singapore ?
Is your remark not tainted by the limitation imposed within the context of your own personal experience and perhaps even without knowing what life is like for a child in China or India - [or if you have any knowledge is that based on a wide personal experience of the actual conditions in China and India, or based on written and visual documentaries] ?
Even a child in Singapore in the 1950s compared to a child in the present 2007 - the values, the quality, the satisfaction or dis-satifaction levels are different.
The simple agrarian life present its own sets of challenges and their needs may not be as complex with their simple levels of satisfaction.
Can life in the agrarian enviroment be compared to the hustle and bustle life in a big metropolis, when your survival is dependent NOT only on the contributory effects your personal efforts but also that of the entire collective majority.
However, a person born in China or India, within his own localised environment can still make an impact in the lives of his family and smaller local community - and perhaps maybe easier to make the few big and small steps towards progressive change that mark obvious changes to the quality of their lives.
Can the same be said of a City-state subject to the monopolistic autocrat rule of a Political Despot determined to perpetuate its own Political Control and Rule ?
You must think that you are right in believing that some youths will wine and dine, some will whine and die. Should you not at least consider if it will not depend on the motivational intensity of how contented a person is - or is not - towards the ''prevailing status quo'', and then decide to ''wine and dine'' or to ''whine and die'' ?
Being contented does not necessarily means no motivation to progress in other areas. AndrewPKYap can be contented with an HDB flat, at least for the time being, and focus on earning to buy a car, if that is his priority. If he wants a big car, a big house, yearly holidays at the same time, and he is not born with a golden spoon then he better buy more toto and dream on.
At the end of the day, some youths will wine and dine, some will whine and die. They alone write their future.
Any action to move will depend on the intensity of the motivational factor that weighs the present circumstances with the other direct and indirect effects and consequences in any action towards effecting change to the level of contentment or discontment to the prevailing circumstances .
If one is contented as expressed in the manner that 'Daddy!' had written, can contentment result in motivation to progress in any areas ?

Why should i instigate him? There is no need to. He loses his calm easily on his own. But this is beside my point.
My point is opposition personalities with little or no resentments inside themselves are much stronger than otherwise. A calm opposition personality who shows only poker face is in my opinion stronger than one who loses control of himself easily leading to his own steep downfall in politics.

Singaporeans see opposition members being prosecuted. Singaporeans read and know that WP's proposed cycling outing is being rejected, Singaporeans see riot police against silent protestors.
