It's all about oil... China is turning Venezuela and S.America against US. US is trying to do the same with Tibet... that's politics for you. I'm rooting for China. We are witnessing the death throes of an empire...
If u talk about country turning against citizen, the whole world have its fair share
Russia & Chenchnya. Why not free chenchya as well ? The russian also use its fair share of guns and violence and even kill its own people who r hostages as well. Why not free chenchnya ?
In the 1970's, british also use armed interventions against its own citizen, Irish. They also use their army vehicle and kill their own people. On bloody sunday,
14 civil rights protesters were shot and killed by members of the 1st Battalion of the British Parachute Regiment during a Northen Ireland Civil RIghts Association march in the Bogside area of the city. Thirteen people, six of whom were minors, died immediately, while the death of another person 4½ months later has been attributed to the injuries he received on the day. Two protesters were injured when they were run down by army vehicles. Many witnesses including bystanders and journalists testify that all those shot were unarmed. Five of those wounded were shot in the back.
...
On 30 March 1972, the British government, unwilling to grant the unionist Northern Ireland government more authoritarian special powers, and now convinced of its inability to restore order, pushed through emergency legislation that prorogued the Northern Ireland Parliament and introduced direct rule from London. In 1973 the British Government dissolved the Parliament of Northern Ireland and its government under the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973.
How come British have the right to start talking about free tibet when they don't give ireland the same treatment ?
I am planning to join a protest against CNN's media bias (on Tibet reporting) and endorsement of racisim on the program (Jack Cafferty the scumbag called Chinese "goons and thugs" on CNN's Situation Room).
Would you suggest a cathy and concise protest sign? I am thinking: CNN = Fork-tongued liar and racist
or CNN = Consortium of New Nazi.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

but put the blame squarely on the Dalai Lama. The DL is a safe target.
II. The peaceful demonstrations in Tibet. The majority of the demonstrators are genuinely peaceful. It is easy to garner support, with a cause, and the promise of peaceful means only, many innocents will lend their support. They always end up being the pawn for the pogrom. Politics always use tried and tested methods.
The Olympics is about sports and bringing the world together, it is sad that it is being used for political agendas.
Why now?
You guessed it, because it is China's turn, and who cares about China. Why not at Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney? The Tibetian delima was still alive at those games. The Olympics games is sacrocanct then, but it is it is not now. Sad that the the very world leaders who would quickly condemn any political interference at any Olympic Games, is now silent, and some infact are riding the current contempt of the Games.
The Olympics is about bringing people together.

In January of 2007, the Chinese government issued a report outlining the discovery of a large mineral deposit under the Tibetan Plateau.[119] The deposit has an estimated value of $128 billion and may double Chinese reserves of zinc, copper, and lead. China sees this as a way to alleviate the country's dependence on foreign mineral imports necessary for its growing economy. However, critics worry that mining these vast resources will harm Tibet's fragile ecosystem as well take valuable resources away from the Tibetan people.[119]
what is de difference between tibetan and Han ?! rn't they chinese?!
They are all citizens of PRC.

From your analogy, the Nanking masscare shouldn't be considered act of barbarism as compared with Tiananmen incident or the Chinese cultural revolution based on your concept on who is killing whom.
How strange. Then shouldn't we be including the countless civil wars that were fought throught out the written histroy of China. Least we forget about Russian killing Russians, Koreans vs Koreans, Vietnamese vs Vietnamese and others. So what's so special about the 1989 TMN incident?
Izzit because of more exposure or focus by Western media?
Least we have
In Korea war n Vietnam war,its an ideology dispute. One side believe in Capitalism, the other side believe in Communism. The thing is,both side obtain heavy weapons n fight for different ideas.
BUT,in Tiananmen incident, does those Chinese students n workers obtain any heavy weapons like Tanks or gunnery?NO,they are just a bunch of protestors trying to convey their views of a more democratic n transparent policy, other than Communist style of dictatorship. Those protestors dont have any weapon on hands. And they were run over by Communist soldiers with guns n tanks. You think it is right for those Communist Pig government to do that?
Even some forumers like Pok also think that Tiananmen is an incident that the Communist government is over-reacting.So what is your problem? You want to see blood coming from unarmed protestors then u happy?
Actually,i also dont like Westerners, they seem to despise Asians.BUT,their political system is very good.I hope oneday, mainland China politicians can wake up n follow their methods to manage her country.
Same to Singapore PAP politicians,i hope our politicians can also wake up someday, and realise we do need a democratic system.

If u look onto the wiki above, british army also conduct their own "Tiananmen incident" by shooting on unarmed protesters and driving their vehicle over them. 6 of them r not even adults.
It is not right for the government to do all tis, but government have to do something when they face riots and violence and seperatists.
