The World is in a downward economic spiral into recession.
If the price keep going up, it will hasten the economic crash that no one will gain.
The "Oil Producing Countries" will be similarly dragged downwards, and any prolonged economic recession will surely bite into their communities.
Their oil wealth will only be good as a buffer for the short term, and the biggest losers will be these "Oil Producing Countries" that depend almost everything that their oil money can import into their countries.
They will end up paying higher prices for all the stuff that they depend from all the industrialised and semi-industrialised countries.
Meanwhile, PM LHL is waiting for events to spin itself out, while he sit tight without doing anything until March 2009 - and will then claim credit for getting Singapore out of the recession.
During the interim period from now till March 2009 - when the Budget is announced - he will have collected at least a few hundred million dollars from the 21% hike in electrical charges alone.
With the loudest voice in the Alternative Parties shut-out, the remaining two voices can only whimper.

*sigh* Singaporeans must stop spending and hoard their money when it is obvious that the world economy is facing such big problems. They must cut rentals and GST to ensure business survive and not expect Singaporeans to spend money to help the businesses.
