what do u mean by spine injury? Is it slip disc? If it is then gosh... it's very serious!

wat i know abt slip disc is that u can undergo go a major operation to correct it. it is costly, but most importantly very painful. require abt 3 surgeons to perfrom, a orthopedic doc to do the spine structure, one neurologist to make sure the nerve are not affect or damage and another i forget do wat .......Originally posted by zhiyong_chua:hi all,

the implication is that there is risk involved like another other operation. that is certain percentage that the nerve might be affect and result in permanant paralysis.
due to the operation risk, if the slip disc is minor, the doctor will not advise an operation. and there is an excerise that can control the slip disc from worsen.
it is a kinda physiotherapy ....... do only after discharge from hospital, and has had rest for abt 3 months before starting this excerise. it is swimming, BUT not anyhow swim, only the following style. clump a float, can buy from sports shop, at the lower thigh region, slightly above the knee, and swim like free style using the hand BUT the leg do not kick !!!!! keep the body a straight line.
this excerise will help to "lengthen" the body and spine becoz it is like the upper body "dragging" the lower body. kicking with the leg will stress the spine and worsen the situation. so just use the upper body free style method. the upper body breast stroke (frog style) method will also hurt the spine as the body is force to curve slight like U shape.
another advice, change the matress to hard matress, no more soft and springy type. try getting sea horse brand (not advertising here, but theirs are hard, firm and good). hard matress is good for the back.
hope all these info helps in one way or another........... rest well evonne and don't wear yourself off zhiyong -

Well, I have smsed Evonne and her bf, Zhi Yong replied. He said that Evonne almost could not climb out of her bed yesterday.

Ya I do know that an op might not be necessary, and that there's a certain level of risk. What I know is that slipped disc patients have to undergo therapy every week. It's somehow like a massage session, according to someone, who is also suffering from that. I understand that Evonne is going to the therapy every week.
Both Evonne and her bf are looking for a lawyer to sue the driver. The traffic police told them that the driver was drunk but they did not mention anything about pressing charges against the driver, since it was his first offence. If anyone has any contacts, or know where they can find a lawyer to handle this case, please private message me, Zhi Yong or Evonne. Thanks. -

juz that it quite pain..like BBB had say le ...i almost cannt climb out from bed last few days due back was pain till i almost wan cry... doctor aso mention my back is getting worst.........might hav operation but he say only got 60-70% success rate and unable 2 cfm there will recover well...=(
but aniway thanks le...my bf had try 2 look for some lawyers to ask..=)hav to do therapy for life..therapy session not not so cheap.and got 2 go @ least 3 time in a week...each time therapy cos around $80-$100..and aso my private sch payment i aso hav to pay around $13700(course fee)...whoa...that much...that why i hav 2 ask for the compesation....haiz...doc had ask me to stop work for the time being,juz in case i sit too long my back will pain......=(
i hav to take noted few things
*not 2 drink ani more cold drinks...
*try not 2 sit /stand for long
*try not 2 take heavy things
*not 2 do ani sports currently on

On the legal side of things, i think if the traffic police press charges, it'll be a criminal charge and i doubt evonne will get anything even if that guy gets life.
on the other hand, i believe a civil suit will help evonne. you see, there is this Law of Tort, where people such as drivers have a responsibility towards others e.g. other road users. in any case, all motor vehicles must be covered with third party insurance and the insurance cover on the vehicle should cover evonne all the way. just need a decent lawyer to settle the case.
how much compensation will be awarded will be dependent on the circumstances... is the driver totally in the wrong? or is there contributory negligence on the part of the victim? the judge will decide...
fret not, it is unfortunate that all these happened. but i really think the law is on your side...

I duno whether Evonne had her safety belt on. If not, the defendant can say there's contributory negligence, then of course the compensation, if there is, will be much lower la.
Juz yesterday a fren of mine was knocked down by a vehicle somewhere in school. I was shocked when I received the sms from my fren. The driver actually hit and run. But luckily she was alright, just some brusies on her arms and legs. -
