Watched some parts of the NKF program yesterday. Quite unhappy at the way they risked their celebs like that. I am referring to Zoe Tay's segment. I think that required not only observation and good memory, but also some luck. Of course I suspect there will be some trick involved, but still I expect them to think of better and relatively safer than that. Also are Tay Ping Hui's segment on the needle bed, Chris Lee's "ba guan" stunt, and also last week's stunts by Ho Yeow Sun and Sharon Au. But I also had to recognise that people are so "sadistic" that they will only donate when they watch such dangerous stunts (as evidenced by the huge leaps in number of calls during such stunts
) I also noticed this year's event was laced with extra NGs drama element (to get sympathy votes?) and constant goading, mostly from Cao Qi Tai. That is very Taiwanese hosting, which garners a lot of sympathy, but also cynicism from some (like me) 
.
There had been high-profile debates recently over whether NKF is solely dominating a huge share of the charity pie with this kind of tie-ups. I hope TV stations can rotate tie-ups with different charities to benefit even wider range of people. Or at least with organisations which benefit more charities rather than NKF which is solely for kidney patients. I see NKF get millions of funds from these events (and the S$189m in reserves of course), while smaller charities suffer just because they don't get exposure, and also only $0.52 cts per dollar goes to patients only, which is very low as compared to the average $0.80-$0.90 for charities
(from what I read from papers).
Not that I have personal agenda lah, but it does make me upset that even charities have such politics...

Can't help but agree with Hajime... while the intent is noble, the means are a little questionable. Just hope nobody gets hurt... a single life is more precious than all the treasures of the entire universe.
Notice that the level of difficulty and danger of the charity stunts keeps escalating each round? The Ren Ci show where Mingyi priest tried rapelling down the side of Suntec seemed to have sparked off a new type of competition between the two TV stations. (Not pointing the fault at anyone... I am sure the Ren Ci show was purely for charity and charity only. This is just an observation.)
It seems that TV competition has taken on greater heights on newer fronts... no pun intended.

Perhaps the senior echelon of NKF might want to do some of the stunts themselves, like the way Mingyi priest did... after all, it is for charity. -
If it's charity, people should donate if they are really willing and sincere to, right? However, sad to know that people donate bcos they want to win the attractive prices! I think they are very clever lor..those videos and songs playing at the right time to gain people's sympathy..and those dangerous stunts..dun see a need for them to risk their lives! However, I believe they had plans on what to do la..Sharon Au's one really made me OUCH for her..Sun too..Tay Ping Hui..Melody..Zoe's made me sweat for her. wah...Is it that the audiences are very bian tai or the management are simply out of their mind or inhuman? Really dun understand! Ren Ci is much better ba..tho I also dun agree to the special performance by the Ming Yi da shi or whatsoever..walked down a tall building..but at least, they dun do so much advertising and marketing gimmicks.
Very HOT today! Angry ar..very irritated. Received calls at 3 plus..midnite..I was sexually harrassed. Idiot! Kept calling and calling..made me so scared that I shut off my hp. Somemore, it's prvate number! I duno who's the idiot!!! Very sickening man! I told him to go to hell. Anyone got any idea to help me or not? My fren told me to divert call to police station. I wonder if it is possible for me to track down the number of the caller. I have a feeling that he will call again tonight lor. i lost interest in NKF shows since last yr...i felt the dangerous stunts were unnecessary, there're better alternatives, for e.g., encourage a one for one donation lah, like for every $1 public donate, TCS donate $1 oso lor. something of this sort lah.
i heard from my colleagues who have schooling children, each kid has got this donation card frm NKF, which ask them to get family members to donate...so if u've 3 kids, congrats u got 3 cards to fill in...and who are going to fill in these cards? their family of coz! the kids can't be going out on the streets to ask for donations rite?
wat happened to the community chest envelopes we used to get during children's day last time? this NKF thing tat's enforced in schools is like forcing pple to donate...if teachers do not get the right msg across to these kids..most of the time, it turns into some kinda competition to see who can get the most donations....again, where does this money comes from? -

Last time in my sec sch..cant rem which donation..but student which got the highest donation will win top prize, a mountain bike..top class wil win something etc..
I helped NKF distribute flyers this year. Then I realize that the advertising done this year is real big..with Energy involved..then SHE also held a concert in ACS Independent to thank all volunteers who took part in the donation card activity if they hit a target...

You can try in future to let a male (father, brother, male friend) to take the call if you suspect it's from that pervert. Let them answer the call and ask them to use any vulgarities they can on him
. If not, refer him to police. If he calls everyday around the same time, tell that to the police, and let them hold your SIM card for that period of time while you use a temporary one. If that guy calls again, he will kana the police. Even if private no. not able to track, at least he will be deterred from calling you again. Try contact your operator and ask if they can offer assistance for such cases as well or not.
Heard about 1/3 Singaporeans have Giro contribution to NKF every month. Don't know is it a opt-out or what, but I certainly have no recollection if I have to make the same monthly payment. I will go check and if it is, I will opt out. Not that I don't want to help, but for charity, shouldn't it be a volunteer basis? I am already regularly donating to Red Cross and other charities, I want to be aware and keep track of what charities I am donating to.
If NKF is a caring charity, given its success, it should also be more magnanimous in helping out other charities. Like giving guidance on how to organise effective fund-raising events, etc. -

Well thanks Hajime, I asked my net fren who is an ex-cop before..he said such cases have to report to police first and then police will get starhub (my operator) to track the number and give warning to the pervert.
Today someone came to pick up a fight with me leh..during class..me so HOT!!!
Her bf ever called my girlfren to scold her. well, if he dares call me, I will report to police too..kill two birds with one sotne. 'Kill' all these Niao Ren! Yesterday my office building out of electricity for 20mins. Colleagues joked must be no pay electricity bills, later read news then realised got such a serious incident at Nicoll Highway. Hope they can find the remaining missing workers, esp the Singaporean who returned to save his fellow colleagues. Quite upset over this kind of accidents, and also wondering if the other Circle Line construction are safe or not...

Yup this ah lian still fought with me in msn last night! So sickening! I was doing a final touch up on my presentation preparation with my team mates and she came to pick up another fight So thick-skinned! Really duno what is "Zi Dong" leh! Bui hiao paisei..after the quarrel in class yesterday, she immediately called one of my girlfrens who was on MC..and cried while talking to her..who noes whether she was really crying..she scolded me and yet she was the one crying. When the bitch (I have no qualms using such a term on people like her) behave this way, just bo chup her and just carry on with what you are doing. People around will feel disgusted at her seeing a siao charbor "po fu ma jie", and will respect you for not being provocated by this kind of childish behaviour. When you "walk straight and sit upright", no one can touch you.
If she tries to use violence on you, you will have many witnesses to support your case, so don't worry. Don't let this kind of bitch affect you and spoil your day...not worth it!

That bitch went to complain to my lecturer..in private. Before that, my lecutrer came to tell us that she wanted to talk to her. Then I said, since we discover something new today and a fren is very HOT, wanted to confront her straight away, we might as well stay and talk about it. I told my lecturer, "You listen, you see, but pls dun interefere." She said OK.
So we stayed back after our class and my lecturer arranged a meeting room for us. We were so called 'conferencing". She dared to put words into my mouth. I was very very angry, my expressions changed, my words were real straight forward. My frens were very scared and worried that I will erupt..my lecturer too..so they helped me to clarify things whenever they could so that I did not have to speak much..thus avoid those huo3 yao4 wei4 from growing stronger. Anyway my lecturer analyzed everything that on a case by case basis, she said who was at fault etc and then woooooooooooo even lecturer agreed that she was wrong in everything! Over the towel case, lecturer said that if she were to be at the chalet, after hearing about search bags, she would scold her! Coz few girls were already having the runs and everybody were packing up..yet she was searching for that cheap face towel. Hahaha!~
I juz came home..though still feeling breathing difficulty, but I'm happy that this thing is cleared and it is made obvious that she and I cannot be frens anymore. My lecturer even advised us not to keep in contact with her after graduation. She said right now in school, see each other, just smile. Then I said 'What if I simply can't smile to her?" Haha..she also bobian..Let me be..then after that she told me 'I dinoe that you can also speak like that. I knew you were going to erupt." Think she got a shock..just like my frens. Coz I simply hate it, dun like people to put words into my mouth. I said I DID NOT say that, and I'm very firm about that. Dun think you can trick me into admitting.

WOW..very very happy...I watched <50 First Dates>! Been waiting long..and ya..wonderful..this movie is not at least disappointing. i cried..maybe I'm nostalgic ba..cute sea animals..esp the kissing, kiss gdbye, tata gestures..lol..
Comedy..sad too..touching...the guy really done so much to make her love him for a day. Can you imagine..they are in love with each other today and tmr when she wakes up, she won't recognize him. very sad when she initiated the break up..and very sad when he said 'i love you very much, more than anybody else' or alike. sob sob..
The ending..very nice..very unexpected to me..Oh ya..not forgetting the scenery! Hawaii!!! Very nice blue sea~ highly recommended movie!

wah, they so lai pi one ah. Say this kind of things can check one, why not they report to Friendster? Say if they don't dare report means xin xiu, that they lie and accuse people. Dare them to do it lah! If not, you can report user to Friendster for defamation. If they try to accuse you, say that since they PROMISED to delete testi liao, you won't waste your efforts to hack their a/c and that you have better things to do. Unless they are the ones who don't want to delete then just anyhow think up of some lies to accuse you.
After so many incidents, it will be a surprise people choose to believe them over you, unless they also stupid idiots like them. -

I may not be able to understand completely what you are going through but do have some thoughts to share. If anything, I feel indignant. And you have every reason to feel the same way.
You will agree with me that life is short... it is too short to waste it on trivialities. You probably have much more important, more constructive things to do than to be embroiled in a tussle like that. Youth is precious, waste it not on uselss pursuits or aimless people.
I know it is not easy to walk away from an argument, especially one where you have justice on your side. But once you have made your point, silence is perhaps the best response. Stick to the facts and if the other party chooses not accept it, then walk away 'cos there really isn't anything much you can do. There is no point in talking when the other party refuses to listen.
On the bright side, once you overcome this, you would have grown tremendously from this experience.
Remember... you have no time for fools... life is just too short for that.

Thanks tinker and Hajime. I told my frens to let the matter rest and keep a low profile for the time being. No point finding out who did it coz anyway it's taht stupid fool's account and it's none of our business. As for the accusation, our conscience is clear, we did not do anything of that sort and we are not afraid of accepting any investigation. Indeed I have more important things to attend to. This ah lian is just finding troubles for us to divert our attention and maybe set up another plot and make us fall for it. We believe that what comes round goes round, she will get her retribution one day. I just want to concentrate on my studies and graduate in another few weeks' time..then say byebye to that sickening face. Gees..
Anyway today my lecturer came to talk to 2 of my girlfrens, asking how's that matter going on. My frens said 'It's settled last week but some pple juz like to create more problems and dun want to let it pass. Feels very yuan1 wang4 to be accused for doing something that we have not done.' It's comforting to know that our lecturer believes that we are innocent. I juz told my classmate yesterday, I take her as invisible, juz a spirit doing evil things around.

Dinoe 933 has been giving andy lau's movie premiere tix for tonight. I heard it this morning at 10 plus and couldnt call in..then was so hungry, stomach protesting that I went to eat..haiz...then heard they were giving out tix at Shaw House..but I was in school..arghhhhhhhhh I missed it leh! So far, 2 men died in the Ayer Rajah incident. Really upset about the way things are handled in construction sites like this. Have safety precautions at construction sites been compromised in recent days? Although the authorities said it has nothing to do with the Circle Line, the similarity is that it's also the reinforcement structures which gave way this time. Seems that the pre-work done before the actual construction was quite inadequate. Sometimes when I see this kind of things happen, all the problems I have been complaining about seem to diminish in importance. Why trouble myself with all the hassles at work when I have a choice to live a happier life? Hmm, I must keep this macro-perspective in mind...
