  This question really depends on the situation.
  
  If someone i don't know suddenly approaches me and ask, then i'll be stunned definately. Who do you think i am, Chen xiao dong in some movie?
  
  Though i have been indirectly asked this question. And i must say it has really turned me off!
  
  Imagine a complete stranger coming up to you and asking this... Love and relationships shouldn't be this way, do you not think?

  wait... i think ppl are getting this all wrong... or maybe it could be me... but you're a girl rite? and the person asking is a girl as well rite? would u actually tell her flat out "no"? i think that'd hurt... and ok... alot of ppl would find this just plain gross but dontcha think that for a person to have that kinda 'courage' is like wow... cos it's like she's laying out her heart out there for ya just waiting for ya to accept or crush it... my opinion anyway....

  Yea. I agree that girls like this are courageous. I REALLY really admire them for that. And even though for some whom I may just plainly reject, they will still have my admiration for their courage eventually.

  Yet they should also learn the technique, not just the guts behind it. Coming up to someone you don't really know, and asking a question like that will scare the wits out of the person you're talking to, be it guy or girl in both situations.

  ya... that's true too... to have somebody... even a straight person come up to you and say such a thing... yet alone a person of the same sex... kinda funny looking at it from this point of view but if i were the person to be asked i think i'd flip as well...

  Actually, there is nothing wrong with the expression of love. I felt.
  
  To be honest, twice, I was told infront of female friends that they like me and wanted to be my girlfriend.
  
  I thank them for their appreciation. Did not laugh of course, but in my heart I felt flattered. Then I told them I am not ready yet. Why not let's be good friends first and we could learnt more about each other better before commiting into any relationship.
  
  And it turn out to be very enriching and healthy friendship relations. Also this period of time allows them to re-examine their inner-self if they are truly serious or just a crush.

  If a girl asks, KUdos to her for havingthe guts to say it. THEN, ask yourself. Ask you HEAD UP THERE and your heart wheather you like her or not.
  
  If yes, good luck. say yes.
  
  If no, find a GOOD explanation and try not to hurt her too much.
  
  OR ELSE, stare at her and say you're gay.
