Btw, just to warn those who are interested in taking up Information Systems Management (ISM) in SMU, ive an insider news abt this faculty.
My good friend, a 2nd year ISM student ( 1st batch) told me she really regretted her choice. The profs in the ISM dept are not v experienced in teaching, and worse still, being a new faculty in SMU, their syllabus are subjected to changes, and she says that the profs are stimes pretty unsure of what approach they are taking in this 4 yr course. Many of her profs are v poor teachers, most from overseas, have poor command of the english language, ( but i wld say that isnt UNCOMMON in NUS/NTU too).
Recently, i heard her faculty has to take up a compulsory 2nd major, which she said was probably due to that the faculty thinks the ISM degree may not be marketable and thus need a 2nd major to buck it up... -
basically i want to take analyical with some mathathical degree...ask most of them most recommend econs but kinda stuck on choices....not really interested in business management.....

Makes me think of NTU actuarial science, or computational finance from NUS science, which are not really entirely maths or sci...haha...fun ? -

If i arent wrong,u will need a merit to enter NTU or NUS.Of course,there are exceptions.If you got lots of As and Bs and you missed the mark for merit a little and get only a pass,chances are u will still be able to get in.

me onli got A,C,C for As but managed to get into Mech. Engr. in NUS!
Now, ALWAYS apply and try out, no harm rite? and when you get in, just get a bank, NUS will help you with this, like DBS scholarship rental, they WILL PAY for your school fees, and you ONLY have to pay back like $500 per month AFTER you graduate, INTEREST FREE, untill you FULLY paid back.
LIFE IS NOT AS DIFFICULT AS YOU THINK, JUST DO IT!

hmmm if you don't mind you can work first... until you're 25, and then apply to the universities as a mature applicant. that, of course, provided you get a proper job and excel at it, because your employment is going to matter alot in your application.

i'm now partly worry about the fiance part (sch fees) as i'm supporting myself if i want to study....... so logically speaking i shld work first instead of study?

dude.. i think your family is constrained by finances huh?
try this.. it's a hell of a tough way to get a degree but i tell you what, the satisfaction is worth the pain...
go work.. get a steady job and then go look for a degree to do.. do it part-time.. it's gonna be difficult but in that way, you can support yourself and your studies too.. and somehow, bring your experiences into the studies you do..
it takes a lot of determination and heck.. you gotta be almost stubborn..

Check it out with the respective schools ba. What we post here might not be 100% correct.
If u really wana study and family dun wana support, try to depend on yourself. Have u paid off ur poly sch fees yet? It's not advisable to take up too many loans coz when u start work intially, you might face financial difficulties. -

aye looks like maybe the solution now is like what nightzip mentioned... get a loan from a bank, which can be paid off in monthly instalments after you complete the course.
have you looked around for more details on the various options u can use to finance your studies? ... bank loans, bonds.... everything...
the choice will be easier to make when you have all the information you need at hand.
