how to get my dad to stop running thru my things?

he was looking for some casing while i was watching dvds on the com. i mean, i know waht;s in my room better than anyone. he asks for it while he looks thru my stuff and i tells him tehre isnt anything resembling the casing he wants. he's gone thru every inch of the house and he thinks he will find it in my room
i repeatedly told him it isnt there and he he just keeps on saying " got or not har? got or not har ? here got or not har ? there got or not har " got this colour or not har? ....." each time i say no. so i walked outta my room to get a drink and cool off and when i am back he;s still there.
he finally gives up possibly after he went thru the entire room. i dont understand, i mean i am ready to give him my new thumbdrive tht's double the capacity of the older thumbdrive he's trying to find a casing for .
i dont understand, i ignore him i get scolded for being disrespectful (as if he got anything to respect. ) i answer him and it seems it perpetuates his queries. -
happens all the time. i think its hardwired into dads.

unreasonable sia.. my dad would never do such a thing... maybe you can try telling him that u feel irritated by his behaviour, or you feel that you have no privacy even in your own room. tell him u've grown up and no longer the small kid you used to be, u need to have a little personal space. of coz, tell them in a clam, serious, respectful manner

i once tried telling them i need my space and another time i was quite happy abt the same issue and they screamed at me, citing i had something to hide.

how abt you buy him a tray, tell him to put his things in the tray and they wun gg shopping ard the house? it's like a hint to him actually.
but i used it to keep all stuff i take outta the house the next day.

based on this post alone...
i think you take it too personally.
it is not about you, your stuff or rummaging your things.
it is about him wanting to find the casing; in which if he doesnt, he may have to find a replacement of some sort.
this happens to us... we lose something and keep looking for it everywhere we can think of... and end up neglecting someone else's privacy, use up another person's time etc.
parents are especially guilty because they feed and clothed us and sometimes think we are obligated to pay them back (which unfortunately we are to some extent)
my suggestion : do not put too much thought about it. it is over, let it be. this should not be an issue in the father-child relationship.
