Don't worry, you're not the only one with the problem.
You said you woke up quite late in the day, therefore I assume you have more than enough rest already. You haven't had your[b] full 14 hours of staying awake yet, thats why you can't get to sleep, end up tossing here and there.. it's normal, you dont have insomnia.
This advice will work, if only you can drink.
Lets say you wanna sleep at 11:30pm sharp tonight.
1) Take a warm bath.
2) And down a can or two of beer (preferably ABC stout / Baron). Get yourself slightly high.
3) Drink some water. Then go brush your teeth, at the same time wash your feet with warm water.
You'll find it easier to relax now + and you'll fall asleep in no time.
Tried and tested. Do keep me updated on your progress.
