I've got a question for NUS students. I am an American University student and I'm going to be studying at NUS for the Fall Semester.
I just got an e-mail telling me that I will be staying at Prince George's Park Residence in a Single Type C room. The room looks fine from the pictures I've seen, but my only concern is that there is no air conditioning in the room. Is this common in Singapore? I am from the New York City area of the United States which does get hot during the summer, but it rarely gets hot like Singapore! So what should I do? Do you think I will survive the heat or should I try to change my room or something? If anyone has lived in a PGPR type C room please let me know your experience.
Chris
I did apply for an airconditioned room, but my application was rejected.Originally posted by bratpig:There are airconditioned rooms in PGP. Only that it is more expensive, but it comes with an attached bathroomCool right? Go apply for that one. It's worth every cents.
** Due to the unavailability of certain room types in PGPR e.g. Type A. We are regretted but to inform that you may not get the hostel or room type you had applied for.So what do you think? Will I be able to survive the heat?

Considering the humidity of this country, it is more of a necessity than fashon statement.

You gotta be kidding me.
Contrary to what many might say, the Type C rooms are not hot and sweltering at all.Originally posted by csbyrnes84:So what do you think? Will I be able to survive the heat?

I've lived there for a week during our annual Pre-University Seminar in 2001 and I must say that I needed the blanket at night, as the fans are pretty big for a room of this size, and the windows open out to the central courtyard where drafts can be felt at times.
I do not know if your room is facing the afternoon sun, if so, it might be very bright in the day and you should get wooden blinds.Bring in a portable air cooler or a table fan will be sufficient.
Hope this helps..oh and btw, some types of rooms in PGPR are for married or graduate students, especially those with a small living room and attached bathrooms.
Say, which faculty will you be studying in this August?I'm matriculating too but I'm not staying on campus.Lol.
Probably Political Science and Communications/New Media modules..Originally posted by csbyrnes84:Hmmm very interesting. Well I guess I'll just hope for the best at this point.. I'll be taking political-science and history courses. What classes will you be taking?
What do you mean by portable cooler? Like a window airconditioner?
All the best!
