Do we need to be rich or popular to have friends?

I am sad, hurt, shattered when i found out that a group of my old classmates went to dinner outing recently. I am so depressed that my best friend don't even inform me that there is an outing. I know some of them who have my number but they do not bother to message. Have i been always be the forgotten one? I wonder have i made any mistakes. Almost all of them been invited except for the absentee who might be busy. What have i done wrong?
I known to be less popular and not much charm in my old school as i have label poor and old fashioned. That could be the fault that i can't click on them last time. I really dont know why they look down on me. I do treasure friendship seriously but no one recognise it. Sob....
Anyone got such experience? care to share

maybe, some people have that natural connectivity with people. so its not wealth or anything. for me, no expectations so it doesn't matter. honestly, ive no idea why too, oni diff is, i stopped bothering.

and if the people you have been hanging out with think you need to be for them to hang out with you, maybe they really aren't worth having as friends...
go out and make other friends.. true ones, the ones who do not judge you by your bank account

Anyone believe in Face reading? Some people are borned with Cheerful Face, Some Stress and Tired Face, some Unfriendly face, some Professor or Big Boss face? Sometime when we are busy and tired with our works. It is not easy to put on a smile on our face. Heavy workload but average pay, it take effort to be happy in this situation. That is why our customer serivce quality might not be that good.Originally posted by the Bear:you can't help your face..

I'm Not going to judge your friends by saying they are shallow for Not inviting you because you're Not rich nor popular.
Perhaps, as you've mentioned, it's because you can't click with them. If I were to plan an outing, I'd naturally want my friends to have a good time, & Not have anyone feel awkward or left out. Perhaps they didn't invite you because they felt you may Not enjoy whatever they've planned, or the conversation they are planning to have?
Perhaps it's for the best that you don't jump to conclusions so quickly. Your friends may Not have the most evil of intentions. If they don't click with you, then perhaps find some others who do : )

They may or may not be your life-time friends....dun just constraint yourself in that small circle...widen it...

Some times ppl/friends have a tendercy to drift apart.... a lot of effort is needed to maintain a friendship and truth to be told, if I can't click with him/her why spend so much time to maintain this "friendship"... Plus If the other part does not want to be bothered to maintain this friendship... Are they really your friends?
You mentioned that you are labeled poor, maybe just maybe, the place they were going for dinner is rather pricey and they didn't want you to feel obligated to go along and spend that money that you can't really spare on a dinner? or maybe it was an impromptu thingy?
Most often we let our imaginations run away with us... often the situation is not as bad as we envision it to be...

I agree with Smudgey. 1 of the reasons you probably jumped to the conclusion that your friends shunned you because you aren't rich & popular may be because of your own self-esteem issues?
Your friends might actually have been trying to spare your feelings, & by jumping to your conclusion, you may Not have been fair to them. Why don't you speak to 1 of them, & tell her/him that you're quite hurt at having been left out? Ask gently & calmly for their reassurance that they haven't left you out due to malice. Perhaps their explanation will help you feel better.
