at face value, no police records.. just a domestic tiff... the taking down of IC numbers is just for routine screening... if there are other disturbances, they will know that this has happened before.. but there will not be an adverse record...
sometimes people have to learn the hard way.. with your mom shielding him, it may be tough for him to learn... however, she may not be able to shield him if he gets into bigger trouble..
there are special schools, boys' homes and stuff like that he may be put in... however, i don't see that happening..
maybe, just be strong, stay out of his way, hopefully he'll change..
on face value, with your mom protecting him, there may be nothing your family can do...
look after your dad, try to talk to him to be calmer and not be so agitated, as what your mom is reaping is what she seemed to have sown..

there should always be someone to keep calm and be able to control the family situation whenever something happens. in my case for my family, the middleman would be me. if i were you, i would not hesitate to beat my brother, that kind of attitude is already hopeless, and he needs to have some fear injected into him. i hope the police really do something about that, if all they can do is ask your parents to give him more freedom, the police force can Fucking close down. they are not psychologists or professionals in giving advice on these kinda matters, and they still try to give advice, what the Fuck.

For now:
Next time keep your things away from his.
Don't go and tell him off about anything especially about studies.
Avoid contact with him if possible.
Pre-emptive :
Plan for yourself and your future and perhaps help out your dad to move away from that situation... ie: perhaps move out when you are able to.
Draw a clear line for yourself when you will or will not help.
Know that his problem is his and you should not always help him out even when your mom ask you to do so.
What your parents decide to do with your brother, is something you cannot interfere with -
i think your brother is very spoilt. the usual case for the last child. somehow, this pattern is not visible in me(i am the last child).

I think it's that phase of life where friends seem to be "more concerned" than parents. I think each of us have been there and done that before. Once your brother gets past this phase, I hope he'll be able to see the light. For me, I detest my parents' nagging a lot when I was at that age. Now, at 25, I looked back and said, that was really silly of me 'coz friends come and go but parents/siblings are for life.

if all fail... try getting help from counsellors..

ya, me and my mom have tried to talk to him very nicely and patiently in the past.. and becos of that he climbed on top of everyone's head in the family... machiam he's the king of the family like that. sucks man !!! and seriously i dont think bringing him to church will work either... he used to have this christian friend who kept persuading him to join him in church but my bro turned him down and avoided all his calls every weekend...
