why are you retreating so easily? how can you expect to obtain happiness if you back off so readily? even if you are not confident of making it work out, you can still like him right? forcing yourself to get over him is not exactly an apt thing to do.

Long time since I last reply in your message.
So here is my suggestion. Let say starblue if you see something you really really want, what will you do? Will you just give up or will you try to find some ways to get it? If you are the person who choose the latter then why cant you do it for someone you like?
A little personal experience. I used to like this girl in my tution class many many years ago. But I was like you shy (so I understand what you going through). After the class over I cant get her out of my mind even til now many years later. But I had already lost my chances cos I dunno where to find her again and her look is slowly fading from my mind. But the feeling is still there.
If you have read through you shall know that I am asking you to go for it. We are in a modern social and there is nothing wrong for you to know him and make more friends. Is there anything futher let nature take it own course.
We like to say that fate is in your own hand. what it mean is that fate will only bring two people together. But will they be friend, lover or still a stranger, it all depend on the two people.

Organise outing for your dismissing class.. Get him into the organising committee and chat with him more often over the phone..??
But IF you feel that you can just FORGET ABOUT IT when the course ends... Then....
