  But aren't there different "levels" of flirting? I mean, those roll-eyes-worthy lines like "are you lonesome tonight" are more overt, whereas there are also more subtle teasing sort of flirting.
  
  Just to clarify, these were said during a time when they weren't really close friends, more initial stages of friends. I mean, the guy is a guy-guy, not a cheerleader life-is-great type of guy. Why would a guy-guy say "talking to u makes me happy". Twice some more.

  It could be his indirect way of saying, "Consider me". It could also be a friendly advice. I mean, I also ask my guy friends these kinda things what, even my own nephews/cousins! I even volunteer to keep an eye for appropriate girls for them That doesn't mean I'm interested in them what
