i don't like the increasing trend that parents hire maids to take of their children. what happened to the term "parenthood"? what do the "mother" and "father" do thruout the child's upbringing? just to earn $ for the child's food/clothes. who are the ones to instil moral values into the children?
I agree with you. In the local context, care giving is probably the most difficult question to solve. There are probably only a few choices a couple can decide from:
1. One party quit and become the caregiver - may not feasible because of the high standard of living.
2. Nanny - good nannies are hard to find.
3. Grannies - not many people have this option.
4. Maids - To me, the worst of these options, but families will use this maid as cook, cleaner, car cleaning service, sometimes private tutor.
So for practical reasons, option 4 is the most logical - for some families.
I am glad that I have option 3, plus my family spent lots of time doing stuff together, so as a a family unit, we are very very close.
