to me, they are casual "friends", so i'd help them if they ask, and if i am able to and feeling like to and if we do meet up, ill still be friendly or act friendly if needed.

imo, friends don't have to be plentiful. its not unusual to know alot of people yet only few friends. its not like you have zero close friends right? don't worry about it. -

to u, they are your friend. when they need your help, they reply ur msn.
other time, they ignored u.
but, if u meet each other face to face, they are a difference person. they are friendly and talk to you.
They never ask you out or contact you other than the time you met each other(and the meeting is arranged by other friend, let's say, a friend of yours and him is the one who asked both of you out)
is this kind of friend worth being a friend? should we not continue this meaningless friendship?

To let you in the truth, I used to be quite like you.. My classmates and such never really ask me out for outings or such... And I had also wondered why?
But after the years which carried on, and things started to change... If there really isn't anything you've done or such which makes it go between you and them... You should start to question... "What difference would it make if I'm there or not?" You (or some others) might think it's a sad thing, but if you really wanna enjoy their company... Don't you think they should be enjoying yours?
And for a start... Pls don't go 'sour grapes'... If you BOTHER about their FRIENDSHIP, be MORE PROACTIVE...

I am a loner. Never really clicked with people and never get invited to anything. Sometimes it does get me when I see people in groups or couple looing smug and all. But then I think about the freedom I have and the fact that I hate to do all the mindless chit chat with shallow people.. I know I am better off spending time on things I like to do. -
Rule of thumb : Its better to make friends then to make enemies.
So, whatever friends or people that you know, please for heaven's sake just leave the relationship as it is, don't rustle the grass and chase out all the snakes, one might come at you.

Dude, friends come and go so don b suprised that even a four years friend can b parted. Jus make new friends. True friends will help u when u are in trouble. I hope that answer your question. But if u help your friends alot and they appreciated your help then they are your true friends too.

u know, many ppl feel that they have FEW REAL friends, but do they ever think that they themselves are REAL friends to others??? those in need? ppl only be REAL friends with those they close with, and other friends not so close with become secondary, but those secondary friends of yours become ppl who ask qns like what u are asking now, why u not a real friend blah blah.
well, to answer your qn, u should continue to be friends with them, but be ready when they do not help u, these ppl are friends in times of fun. friends whom u should seize to continue relations with are those who talk behind your back, who sabotage u and wish to see u worse off then them. their more threat than those who are "fun" friends.
