Doesn't affect RP students. Because all Year 1 students do 12 common modules. I am finishing 10 already. The other 2, we got the whole of our poly life to finish it.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:since you are already stable in your IT course...den why would you wanna spend another year doing another course?
lets say you gonna transfer course...you have to start studying like a year one...again..and the whole process starts again...its quite a waste of time liao...
so while others are doing 3 yrs course(which is quite long already)...you have to do a 4 yrs course...which consumes alot of time...
plus you have to start making frens in your class again...and you have the risk of not doing well for your bio med course...
personally...i tink IT is very broad...what i learn in my IT course...i feel can go onto many commercial area...so its pretty good...
den again...what you study might not be what your career will be in the future...so think about it...![]()

Yes, I understand... And I meant the same... Unless you're going to REALLY SCORE and FURTHER your STUDIES, it's not much worth.... Market or no market...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I mean a biomedical science or biotechnology diploma. I refer to them to science.
have you considered courses that make use of both science and IT?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I am currently a Year 1 student taking a Diploma in Information Technology. My school is offering us to transfer course. The application period is from 24 January to 27 January 2006.
When I first choose the courses during JAE, I was already confused. I am interested in both science and technology, but my grades aren't good enough to enter the science courses. So I choose Information Technology over science.
Now the school is offering us to transfer course and I have the met the requirements, which is:
Accumulating a GPA of at least 2.5 (I scored 3.4)
My interest in science is still very strong and so is my interest in IT.
What should I do?
I see. You are right, my teachers have told me that biomedical science diploma graduates are washing test tubes. And their post? Research assistants. Nice post, but the post don't reflect what they do.Originally posted by Devil1976:Yes, I understand... And I meant the same... Got, but they just don't match. They sound so much like engineering. All the electronics thing, maybe just my school nia.Originally posted by hisoka:have you considered courses that make use of both science and IT?
I guess this is what you're wrong about... In fact, the latest technology advances and market CLOSELY RELATE SCIENCE / BIO to IT... But that would probably LEVELS much HIGHER than just diplomas...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Got, but they just don't match. They sound so much like engineering. You say so late... application close liao. At 4.30pm today. Anyway, I apply already.Originally posted by Devil1976:I guess this is what you're wrong about... Pharmaceutical Science. Parents object against the other 2 (biomedical science and biotechnology)Originally posted by SnowFlag:apply for which course?![]()
Pharmaceutical Science seems like a good courseOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Pharmaceutical Science. Parents object against the other 2 (biomedical science and biotechnology)![]()
Yup. But the specialization a bit weird.Originally posted by SnowFlag:Pharmaceutical Science seems like a good course![]()
HUH??Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Parents object against the other 2 (biomedical science and biotechnology)![]()
They prefer that I choose Pharmaceutical Sciences rather than the other 2. Because pharmaceutical sector earns more.Originally posted by Ito_^:HUH??![]()

I was counting on 5 years later biomedical science sector saturated and not enough IT people so I could get a job. My parents don't think this way though.Originally posted by Ito_^:5 yrs ago IT sector earns even more leh.
5 yrs now, we're treated like dirt.
Thanks sherling.Originally posted by sherling22:a science diploma specialising in the life science will most probably end up either being a sales representative of a drug / biotech company or in a research lab doing technician work (doing the same old experiment many times everyday). a IT diploma, on the other hand, if you are good and passionate about it, you will be likely to be given the chance to illustrate your brainpower especially if you like software development jobs.
if you are so passionate about science, you will most probably start to look for a job in a lab but the irony is that they most often do not give you the freedom to explore your scientific curiousity, but rather, you will be treated like a techician and you will be bored after a while. even a degree in life science can only end up being a lab officer, doing sometime similar to a diploma in science will do, but will handle more types of experiments.
so morale of the story is: if you choose life science, you must be prepared to go for further studies, at least to a degree but masters will be the minimum (if you want to be given the chance to research new knowledge). if you choose IT, you will be given the chance to use more brain power once you graduate and getting a degree is to help you get promoted but is not a necessity for u to get an interesting job.
Not high when there are others who got better. Barely in the top 5% when the Academic Roll was released.Originally posted by freestyle:hey ndmmxiaomayi, its you.hope ur application gets approve. btw 3.4 for gpa is very high. mine is somewhere at 2.6 :/
