If I ended up in Engineering Courses, but I cannot see myself liking the course. Even if I complete my degree/diploma, chances are, I will not find a job-relating to Engineering.
It has nothing to do with the course; it has only everything to do with me.

Yes, it depends on individuals....But in Lance and the threadstarter's view, they just want to say no one can predict the future and who knows what will happen if we don't try? You don't like engineering today doesn't mean you won't like engineering tomorrow what....and feelings towards person is definitely different from feelings towards something...We can't predict who we will fall in love with right??
This is what i personally feel...maybe i'm wrong but "Qing" is a word we humans can't really explained in words de right?? -

Time, probablity, experience(s) are the major factors which cause changes.
There is always this power struggle between unpredictability - don't try, don't know and self knowing - knowing exactly what you want
And most of the time, the latter will edge through and selection process becomes much less tedious.
Let's put it this way, i'm a artist and most artist do not appreciate(much less to talk about liking engineering ) engineering, because of the subject. Artist likes the product from engineering e.g microwave, but not the essence of the subject(how wave was produced through study of science and engineering.)
You have put it across correctly that feelings towards men and things/subjects are different.
However, when you know that your niche interest** is not in that particular subject, it will not be likely for the rest of your life.
So lets say, if a friend came along shocking you with the love therapy. But it so happens that he's not within your niche interest and obviously he's out of the list.
You have the decision to make - To take it up, or to reject.
Every decision have a cost, at the expense of yourself or others.
Logically, if time permits you to change your mindset about one person and reciprocate the interest. It may not be a bad thing?
'Qing' is easier, 'Ai' is difficult to represent.
I think you're trying to put it across as Ai, then again Qing and Ai is different yet inseperable
Give some thoughts to the difference?
