Different people is entitled to different opinions. If he thinks the girl is really FAT and wants to say it out LOUD with a bang, no one has ANY control over that.
No one can shatter your confidence or piss you off, it is only how you perceive them. Maybe you should look at the bigger picture? Talk to her? Tell her to grow more confidence?

I know of several men who criticise people when they themselves look worse than garbage. -

All the same, it doesn't feel good when you know somebody has been telling others you're unattractive/ugly. It's worse when that person's supposed to be a friend. And it's doubly humiliating when it's said within earshot, TO somebody else.
The way you put the blame on the poor girl, you are probably 1 of those who can't control their loud mouths?
