btw is it wise to borrow money for marriage?
i calculated. if we got to save up everything for marriage, we won't get married until 30++++.
Buying flat fees & ROM should cost us about $10k.
bridal shots & chinese wedding come 1 or 2 years after the flat (so we will use the time to save up for it)
we intend to borrow about 20k from the bank for renovation and repay within 1 or 2 years. -
me and my dear intend 2 save till 35k den get married.... intend to buy flat, but he wan new flat.... dun wan resale... but i think resale is better... and i dun intend 2 have wedding dinner.... oni rom is enuff... idun 1 so mafan

if given a choice i would prefer new flat too..
you don't know what the previous owner do or keep also..
but i think new flat quite limited also -

I wanted just ROM only but threw in a buffet dinner after bugging from my parents.
We don't even have the tea ceremony. I dunno I guess it depends on the individual. I hate cermonies etc. I didn't even want to turn up for my graduation ceremony.
We bought a resale flat and redid everything coz we didn't like the decor of the owner -
when you get along well with nel's family

i think most probably we will be getting resale as well..can choose the location we want..if near our parents, we can get the grant and they can take care of the kids next time...furthermore we can go slow with the renovation (just the basic cabinets, appliances, bed and stuff) which we will be borrowing from the bank...the money we saving up now are for the ROM, dinner, bridal shots and stuff..
currently, our problem is finding the flat we want and the location, anything below $300k. We should not have any problem paying for downpayment and installment now but we don't wish to fork out cash for the installment. our agent told us if $300k+, after 30 years still got a lump sum to pay..for interest i think..
