i cant help but feel that i identify fully with you, skyliner. but let me ask you this.
do you have a few (even 1 is more than enough) close friends, people who have stuck by your side despite your cold appearance?
do you have definite personal goals, dreams, ideals of who you are and what you want?
do you yearn to be yourself and heck it if people dont like what they see?
i am aloof and indifferent to those who are strangers to me. but to those select few who stuck by and gave me their support in the darkest of my moments, i give them my heart and loyalty, and the most charming of smiles. because i feel that they matter to me, and i only have to care about them, not people who dun matter a lot to me.
as such, i dun smile much when i am among strangers. people find me fierce, or unfriendly, but they dun bother me. but when i find someone i can click with, however, i know i can open myself up and let him/her know me better. and that was enough for me.
perhaps you should first of all, assess how strong your sense of identity and sense of worth is. that way, you wouldnt really be affected about people's opinions about you. then you might be able to live by your own principles.
in the course of your lifetime, you will surely fine someone who will accept you for who you are.
