Loyalty In Work

Hi , I have a situation here.But I am not sure whether my actions are correct. Here goes
Last week , I applied for exam leave. Since mid-april i wanted to quit my current job as I realised my dad is sick and I want to spend time with him. But because I love my company and my job , so I stayed
As I doing a part time studies as well. I juggle between my work and studies. Work load start to increase and I still went on.
All the while my management keep wanting me to quit my studies and commit full time but I could not see the reason why as I am doing my studies out of working hours and only twice a week.
Until one fine day , my management want me to quit my studies the fourth time and I felt my company don't care about my future.And I quit , saying i need a break.
But a few days later , i got another offer and I took it after they are more willing to accept my time schedule. And my management said Im not honest since my quitting reasons do not tally.
Am disappointed.
To add on , I believe I am well taken care of in the new job and my responsibilities are shared. And I want this kind of arrangement so that I can do my own things in peace whenever I am on leave without worrying anything in my job since someone is taking care of.
But for my current job , I worry a lot for the company as I am the MAIN GUY in the job. But i feel I am being taken for granted. Because I worry so much for them , they think all is allrite and just hope the whole project ends without additional resources/labour spent.
I think I am just plain too loyal. But when my management said I was did-honest when my reasons for quitting differs .I just felt I need to explain but I know they will stiill say the same thing to sound like Im the one at fault. -

Do remember not to let Management Ruin your life and studies plans.
Management are the least responsible people whom in my experience make use of workers to slog and work. Whereas quick to put the blame on the worker whenever there is trouble.
Listen to yourself , you have a bright future , continue your studies. -

Anyway.....just work lah...but you SHOULD reflect up what you think...to your boss...not the management side...cuz the people who know NUTs are the management....just tell you direct boss....and clarify....
Remain at work lah..as you also need the money mah....and take life easy...dont need to spoon-feed your colleagues want...if they think the project is ok, then it should be ok....

I would love to carry on. But everytime when my management asked me to quit my studies , I just feel that its not worth working there since they only care more about the project than my well being.
Plus Im sure the amount of task I am taking does not justify the amount of $$ I take home.
I continued and help just because I felt grateful to the company for giving me a chance to work during the times when I was still a freshie. But I really was confused when my studies/life was put into jeopardy.
I just do not want to initate any burning of bridges but I guess my management have already start the burning.
Just worried that my company may go jeopardise my career path when my new company may need to know what I do in my past job. So I hope I can explain clearly but.....

I think you don't have to worry about your company jeopardise your new job. Every employee have EVERY right to look for a new job - so what if your reason to leave is to find new job? To label you as dishonest is simply them trying to make things difficult for you.
I think your company's HR policy has serious problems to resort to this. And unless they can prove that your part time studies affect your job performance, they can't force you to stop studying what.
Well, I htink it is obvious from ur description that your company doesn't give a damn about you or your future. Since you have already made the decision to move on, just do it. You don't owe the company its future. -
You are the master of your own future and career.
Choose and priortize wisely. But know this fact:
The day you are in trouble, no company will come and help you out. It is always the love ones who are standing by you.
So you should know what you should put your attention on. If the managers are questioning their loyality, then know that their loyality is to their own pockets as well. So they should never even bring up such childish comments. -
Hmm...you must be aware that most of the people around you, friends and colleagues and bosses and superiors and even bf/gf and siblings are capable of being SELFISH. Don't listen to their advices if they aren't making sense, to the extend of overwriting the norm in society. Well, if you have to work under this kind of management who thinks lowly of you...might as well quit again and never to return. It's not as if you cannot find a job elsewhere, but make sure your management feels your loss. To put it bluntly, if they can hire someone else better..they would've already done so.
Working and slogging your life off for a company just isn't going to work out for us Singaporeans right now. Since there isn't a job security in the market nowadays, then why should employees still hold onto the loyalty in work?
Accusing you of lying? Tell them bluntly that leaving is the best course of action for you as it is unreasonable for the company to advise employees against further studying outside working hours. Outside working hours, it is none of their business. They don't hire you for 24hrs a day....at least it seems that they do think that they own you 24hrs a day as long as you're employed by them. I got out of my previous job cos one SILLY MALAYSIAN think he owns me after working hours.
Anyway, change your mindset...there should be no loyalty to your work and company regardless of how much you loved your job. But only be loyal to the money that they are paying you every month.

at least wait till you find a job before you leave this job mah....this is wiser...
so please be on the lookout for jobs while you are free...go to job fair, open your ears, listen to what people say about job offers...then apply and go for interview or wat...when confirmed...then quit your present job...

Just share with you one important thing.
Please concentrate on your paper chase and dun get bother about the job environment.
Scenerio 1:
You gave your heart and time for your job.
You gave up your studies.
The job gets done and you have gained experiences.
But, as years passed by, you will be passed over due to lack of paper qualification.
Scenerio 2:
You gave up your studies and focus on your job.
You screwed up your job.
You will be scolded for your fault and not pitied for giving up your studies cos it is your decision.
Scenerio 3:
You get your paper qualification.
You are back for revenge.
Ha ha ha.
My point is most of the company is more concerned about the staff in getting the job done even to the extent of sacrificing their future.
The rest of the forumers are correct.
You and you are responsible for your future.
You must get the paper for better job and pay prospect.
Or else you ended up being pushed around, not appreciated and screwed when things are bad.
Focus on your studies.
Give your heart to the company that recognised your hard work.
Or else you have to move on.
That is the reality of working world. -

I was even "conned" to make a promise once.
I was told to make a promise "not to leave the company" until the project ends and I will be promised rewards.
I paused for a while when this request was made . Kinda feel something is wrong.
Then when the fateful day when I announced quitting , they said "I thought you promised me that you will stand by me till the very end"
Then I kept super quiet. I know I have made the right choice.
So advices , guys , how to be professional in the next two weeks before I go for a new company (Found a job last minute after I quit a few days) -

Just remember, there is no loyalty in working life. Management is trying to squeeze as much out of you as possible for the $$ they pay you. If they can get away with it without employing another person to share out the workload, you can bet they will do it. The bottom line looks good - one person can do so many things...
Your objective is to do the "least" for the $$ they pay you. It's not how hard you work, it's how "smart" you work. Work the minimum and show management you're doing great stuff for them...
Every organization is like a tree full of monkeys. Ones at the top can only see monkeys below them and the ones at the bottom see only assholes above them...
....so where are you currently sitting in your company hierachy? -

Work for money dont ever work for loyalty. In this world loyalty is dead.... Look at those poor dogs left in the SPCA.
