British American Tobacco or DXO?

Hey guys, i have got 2 job offers, namely british american tobacco and defence executive officer at mindef. Not sure which is the better option..anyone who have knowledge of these 2 jobs care to enlighten me on the career prospects and what the job is like? Thanks.

Just some comment....Would recommend you to go for BAT instead of DXO due following reasons:
BAt is an MNC, while DXO as a government agency would give the top positions to scholars....not much long term prospects for you there..
BAT gives u a better exposure and helps in your future resume.
The job in DXO is quite shitty...as in, you are in charge of a lot of general projects and new scholars will just ride over your head....
It's your call at the end of the day...but i would say BAT...

i have two colleagues who were DXO previously....they warned me against going there when i got an interview invitation that time...quoting stuff like low pay increment, poor prospects and boring job scope...
It's your call..can go hear what they offer (both companies) first...other factors like location also counts mah..

hmm..sounds like any govt job would have the above problems of having scholars riding over your head. Anyway, every job seems to have its own fair share of complaints and issues right? I mean the grass is always greener on the other side. Renoma, care to tell me more about what your friends discussed abt DXO?..i mean having a job is still better than being unemployed right?

I also got rejected at Shell last month (after 3 rounds of tedious interviews)...sigh...gone are the potential $1k increase in monthly pay, and the 6 mths bonus....
But hey, life goes on...
You nvr know what the future might hold...Everybody has their own opnion..just follow what u think is good for your future (maybe DXO as a stepping stone)
As for your qn....my colleagues are from the logistics and intelligence divisions respectively. The feedback garnered from them is that work there tends to be
1) Too routine at times...nothing to look forward to inm terms of development/advancement
2) being involved in meaningless projects, clearting up the shit left behind by others
3) Poor pay packages and SLOW increment....depends whether yr boss likes you...
At end of the day....give it a try bah....not easy to find job openings in MNCs and secure it...

well shell is really good or so i heard, but yeah the interview process is really tedious with the final rd being a whole day recruitment exercise.
P&G has around 6 rds of interviews and they really do recruit the best. Well, money is not everything dude, i heard that once u get employed into shell, the system there is so streamlined such that every individual employee has to handle all aspects of the product which justifies the high pay and bonuses you're getting. But yeah, the prospects are definitely better in MNCs.
Oh well, i'm just a fresh graduate so i guess i need to start off somewhere right? and its increasingly difficult to get through interviews these days as competition becomes tougher and tougher. -

Defence executive officer is better, military is always needed and you will last long there.
Both job takes pay from us. One is we buy tobacco product, we pay the company, the company pays you. And we will die faster.
Another is we pay tax to government and government pays you. And we more secure.

As far as i'm concerned, the tobacco industry is expanding and operates in over c'tries and is a billion dollar industry. If you can get into the marketing dept, they would give you a free car, how cool is that.

Just curious.. do you have a good 2nd uppers or a first class honors? How about your CCA records and work experience? Because from what I know BAT selects only the best of the best.. so its very likely you have 1 or 2 of the above. As for being a management trainee, did the company promise you that there will definitely be guranteed employment after you have completed the training phase? From what I heard and know of... there will elimination.. say given a scenario of 10 trainees only 2 or 3 will make it and become high flying management personnel.. the rest don't even get a chance for relocation within the same company... based on what I know -
