Guess the general consensus is to either:
1) stop him from playing completely
2) limit his playing hours
3) Let him take the fall.
I really Would like to limit his playing hours.. but he just won't listen, and if i do lock up the comp because of that, i think he'll throw a big tantrum, and i don't like to see what people do when they get angry... even kids.
I guess i'll just let him ... 'take the fall'. Or maybe just let him grow up..

Anyway, I think the developer of maple story made a huge mistake by creating the marriage function. Players of opposite gender can now get married in the game! It's not surprising if ur brother starts to think that he's married. Stop him from playing! Yea. Use the hack program to get him banned.

Let him spend his time in more meaningful activities so that he wont have time for computer and gradually when that becomes a hobby he will play lesser and lesser in computer games until it becomes zero gaming activity.
My brother also has the same problem lah, but this one is even worse lah, play more than 12 hours a day, morning wake up, walk out my room is see he playing liao, then go out and come back at night still playing. haha, well i have tried all i can, now i m just gonna let him have a taste of his own failure in his studies.
Man, so u must bring ur brother out more, go exercise, jogging, go church, go out to do things that are more meaningful that's it. Fill his schedule with tuition, music lessons and outings. And i think that's gonna be fine.

The problem with beating him up is, after beating him and he still doesn't listen? Beat him until blood oozes out? and he still doesn't stop? Beat him until he lands in hospital? and he still doesn't listen, murder him because his life is worthless?
The other problem is that once you beat him up, the relationship is gone.... and you might never get it back for the rest of your life. You are his brother and like you said: If your parents do not beat him up then who are you to do it?
At least if your parents do it, the relationship might not break if he feels that they have a right to beat him up as his parents. -

What should i do? I don't think my family is controlling him very well. I'm kinda worried about his PSLE, but i hear his grades aren't that bad. But still... i fear this gaming is getting out of hand.
Damn. Perhaps i should NOT have introduced him to Wc3 or anything.

Kids nowadays are being led to a world that they shouldn't experience at their age.
Gaming is alrite if the player limits him/herself to maximum 3 hours per day. Anything more than that will do more harm den good. No wonder kids nowadays are wearing specs at a young age!

I think he really needs some healthy activity, but i don't exercise that much myself... sometimes when i reach home from camp i just feel like nua-ing, only once a while go for jog. When i cycle i can't really ask him along, cause of the... speed? Same with jogging too...
But hmm, i guess i'll try it one of these days, jog or cycle together...

I dont suggest passwording your computer. It will just make ur bro agitated and really irritated (withdrawal symptoms lol).
The best way is probably to go to the maplestory files in the computer and remove a few important files so the game cant function. And then just lie and say ur com is incompatible or kena virus or whatever bullshit.
Another way is maybe to start playing com games with him. Its more fun if two people play. And it will be easier to persuade him to stop gaming too... like when you stop playing with him halfway and tell him 'we've played enough, lets go out/ study blahblahblah'. -
Distract him with your old collection of porn. He might take to reading.

Well, I'm a gamer myself - holidays are the perfect time to play. I play at least 12 hours a day.
I would suggest you give him a reasonable amount of homework to be handed in like... per week. If he doesn't, DON'T LET HIM SLEEP. Force him to do his work, throughout the night (That's what you say. Just let him do until 2 - 3 will do). Explain to him that while you can play, you need to do work. So this is the amount of work I'm giving to you, and this is the amount you need to complete.
If he doesn't respond, just lock up the computer for a day, and tell him it's because he doesn't do your work. If he cries, throw up a temper, screw him and YOU use the computer yourself. Go play some games and let him watch and watch. "Want to play? Finish your work."
It works with me when I was 12. -
Oh, I forgot to mention that way I taught you needs about two weeks to take effect. If he's rebellious (like how I used to be), then a month.
