is it me expecting too much a not
on my 21st bdae my brother and sister called from australia
happy birthday blah blah. then say my present is on the way
then i think very happy
in the end they only share present with my sister in law.
5 person share 1 400 bucks wallet
then i ask him "nothing else ?"
he ask me whether i know how much it worth !
i regret last time i gave my bro wedding present a 26" lcd
i nv said u know how much it worth
wtf man
for 20 years i nv expect them to give me anithing
but on my 21st bdae they onli give me a wallet
and its not like i beg him for present
its evertime when he return from aust
he said "i will buy u something next time"
and he said that many times.....
everytime like that
do alot of things that makes me piss off
my room tv spoil
he say he will get me 1
then in the end
he buy 1 29 inch
put inside my dad room
then bring my dad tv to my room.
then i still must try to act happy
btw the 26" lcd is share present
i paid about 500 for it
i am jobless student
they are working adults earn 4k per month
i felt i pay more then them in this way -

It's the thought that counts? What exactly were you expecting from them? A $1,400 wallet is way too expensive in my opinion.

the most expensive gift i had from my family was a gold chain and pendant that cost about $300+, and that was bcos i did well for PSLE.
my 21 bday i din get anything from my family lor.. worse still my father was not around le. U grumble wat?

since when (about 15 yr old) i found out that i was a diffcult birth, i stopped celebrating my birthday.
everytime a women gives birth to a child, she is risking her life for the child. so why should we be celebrating OUR birthday? shouldn't it be the other way round?
y do u need presents to celebrate ur birthday? at least be glad that ppl remembered ur birthday. -

on a sidenote, i have to agree that you have to spend, when you need to. 26" tv? how about bring that tv to the living room to watch together with the family. promotes bonding, family time, and you can use it as well. -

Yea. I do agree that Great expectation means Great dissapointment. Jus take things simple. Gifts and Presents are not valued based on monetary value, it's the tot and sincerity that counts.

At least they had the heart to give you something. We can't ask for our present in the first place, it is rude. Accept what is given to you and you will be contented.
Next time their birthday come, do the same thing, share one 400 dollar items.

Dear, I learn my lesson since I was very young. Never expect others to be good to you, if you want, than be good to yourself. Buy diamond, flower for yourself. You can love and pamper yourself too. If you are good to others don't expect return. Being good to others does'nt mean others will be good to you.

expect nth, and u'll be plesantly surprised at everything tt u receive in the end. i guess we've to learn to be content with everything that comes to us, after all think about it, a 400 bucks wallet is alr an expensive gift, for the money can easily feed 2 starving kids in the 3rd world country for a yr!

You get a $400 wallet, and you grumble.
I get a $15 wallet from my brother, and I'm grateful for his getting me a replacement for my old, worn-out wallet.
I get $50 cash from my dad, and I'm grateful to him for it pays for my lunch and dinner for a full week.
And before you say it, I'm a student who pays for pretty much everything. Food, transport, handphone bills, lecture notes, etc - all that comes out of my $15 wallet. I have to support myself by giving tuition several times a week.
Still, I feel grateful, for there are poor kids out there who don't get so much as a 'Happy Birthday' by their dad who's in prison and their mum who's in rehab.
