To "depressed", Maybe you can listen to him? He may need someone to talk to and when you say you wish to share his burden, he may tell you about it. There is no use speculating. Hear him out. Unless he still keeps quiet, wait a little while longer then talk to him again. BUT don't be too pushy about it. It may be sensitive to him and guys naturally have pride so he also wants a little respect.
