Then the male lead dies, and somehow a series of events brings the two girls together or something I forgot already but it's a very beautiful story.

  Yes it's Love Letter.
  
  But the two did not become sweetheart.
  The male lead had always had a crush on female lead until they graduated. However, female did not realise until the end(of the movie).
  The ending is very very powerful.
  
  It left a certain suspense of WHAT IFs...
  
  And that movie left a deep impression.
  
  p.s : Yunnie, tsk! I like sad endings!!!!
