i'd open resto, make a membership card juz for sgformers' premier members with 20% discount. chain in more shops and resto, and we can have our premier "benefits" with class!
but more importantly, i'd open resto. -

Is the restaurant prospering?
How much profit?
U taking over the restaurant or co-owner?
how profit is split?
who has the biggest say?
how's the future like for the restaurant?
Do you know the operations of the restaurant well?
Knowing how to eat or cook does not necessarily makes u a good chef/boss of a restaurant.
Are u confident that when u take over, customers will like what u cook?
Any research done?
i think these are just a few questions u haf to consider.
If i am you, i would rather maintain the status quo. Taking on the restaurant would mean less time spend with family and having to forseek working in a comfortable environment, stability, bonuses and etc.
Sometimes, a deal might sound too goot to miss. But if u think from another angle, if i am a boss of a restaurant and the restaurant is doing so well, i wouldn't be so likely to share the profit with someone.
But anyway, if u are really interested and willing to take a risk, i would say go for it. U might make it (but similarly, be prepared for losses and do calculate how much losses u can afford to make if u go for it)

i have been thinking...my relative is currently running the restuarant...the business is doing well..they are planning to open up a branch..and leaving me to run it. But i dun think i will do the cooking. I will manage it. -

i was thinking of maybe learning the trade 1st for maybe 1 year or so by helping out on a part time basis...then decide from there -

It is always safer to have some $$ by the side in anticipation of any loss. Buy utensil, ingredients also need $$ rite (maybe the main branch would be paying or what i don't know)..
I am not putting down yr decision. We do hear many cases where people start their business with the least minimum capital and are doing well.
I agree, go help out in the restaurant for some time and see whether u like it a not. -

me also planning of opening up a shop next year
must go all the way...launch full attack on the market
every detail need to look over... eg. what types of music to apply to the target market, so they will spent more money... customer loyalty programmes that prey on their greed, shop layout to pull in customers..etc -
