Is she a outgoing type? Been to alot of places? Btw,if u know her not enough and is only the first date. Don try too hard to make it impressive! Remember ,is only the first date. Imagine,the first date u bring her to Raffles Grill and offer to buy her a expensive gift. I think u will scare her..A simple yet not boring dinner will do..

Overdress. Keep yourself clean and shaven.
No flowers, no gifts, no compliments(at most 1l). Keep the conversation always funny and no religious, racial, terrorism, disaster, wars and political talks.
The man must take charge. That includes fetching her from her home and bringing her back home safely. All the eating places the man must be planned beforehand. All the steps to the eating outlets should be planned, including the time to go home. Bring her home early before 11pm.

Because people on first dates always talk a lot in the cinema. Very irritating.
The guy will alway ASK when the lights turned out..
"are you cold?"
"are you sure you are not cold?"
"if you are cold I have a jacket?"
AND then they will attempt to giggle and whisper to each other through the entire movie which will cause deep resentment in the hearts of people sitting nearby, and they might just totally spoil your date by being abusive and piss off.
So I think... since first date is for you to get to know each other, chit chat and all... err find somewhere where you can talk to her more conveniently ma.

Anyway ok.. back to the topic...there's no ten year series answer to this question, it really lies on how much you understand your date. Some people prefer to be impressed by a show of sophistication, others will be more touched by the effort you put in to make it special.
However.. uhh. .. I read before that.. feelings of fear and excitment can often be mistaken by the brain to be attraction. So... a good place to take her is an amusement park where she can take lots of scary rides, and think she likes u more than she originally does. -
Don't put pressure on yourself and especially, the girl on the first date. You should have a ''no-outcome'' mentality. You should not expect anything from this date. It's only the first date and nothing solid happens yet.
Hence, the purpose is both of you having fun. Just have that focus throughout the date and you should do fine.
