Nursing home is a good place for elderly with no partner. There are lots of people to chat with (nurses, elderly and family visiting them every weekend), there are doctors and nurses to take good care of your parents and good facilities to carter them. And nursing home don't come cheap.
This is really a good alternate if you do not have time or for some reasons unable to look after them.
Old folks home and Nursing home is different. =) -

You may have to consider the alternatives if a consensus in not reached. I am sure your mother does not want quarrels between you and your husband right?
Oh, you do know parents can sue their children for negligiance or failure to take care of them when they age right? -

Since your mum's place is 1 room... Is the place worth much? How about trying to get a new place for her which might be much nearer to you so that you can go over to look after her often...? Or if not... Try to rent a flat or room nearby where you're living? Possible? -
Nursing home can take care of her more properly... About making her more happy and spending time with her... You can always try to bring her out (bring your kids if you can?).... HELP MY MUM age 60plus diagnosec with pnemonia today, she got cough with breatheless when couging, and got high fever, and did x-ry showed infection of chest(chest infection) liike white color thing over a portion of her lung, will she ever recover, is it serious. anybody seen ppl with this? plshelp i am stress, my head wnat to explode

just sent her, and i am worried, i don't know much of this disease. what is it? will it cure? i am sad. she say only when she cough than she felt tired and breatheless.
she is hospitalised, and did x-ry confirm chest infection but why hsoptial did not give her antibioitcs tonight, they took her blood then when i went home, no medication given to her, like that how, she willhv fever then, no mdedicaiton how? is it like that/i did not drink wate rall day, now if elt my head exploding os pain.luc -
Let the profssionals do their job. They know what to do. So don't worry too much. You need to rest, else you also fall sick then how? Why doesnt he wants your mum to stay with you?
Is it that he is afraid of transmissible disease from your mum?
In anycase, you should ignore him and bring her to stay with you.
Why?
1. You own half of his property (girl power eh?)
2. You only have ONE Mum but can have many hubbies in the future if you want to
3. Show your kids that it is important to love and take care of old folks and not throw them away like rubbish
Your hubby is probably an egoistic and proud person. Speaking to him nicely and slowly will never work. Reason with him is also not going to work.
Create something to make him feels nice to have your mum around.
Say things like "Hey isnt it great to have mum telling the kids stories from her time?"
Most importantly, remind him by telling him this
"Hey, the kids are learning from us to treat their parents better when they grow old" -

If she's my mom, I would get her:
1. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). Clearing of the mucus can be helped with taking about 500 mg. of N Acetyl Cysteine. This will loosen the mucus and caused it to be liquified, thus reducing the obstruction.
2. Magnesium. People with COPD have been linked to magnesium deficiency, a potential problem because magnesium is needed for normal lung function
3. Eucalyptus Essential Oil inhalation. Eucalyptus tends to destroy whatever pathogens that's causing the inflammation of the lungs. However this tends to have a drying effect but does clear the breathing, so temporary use is acceptable, but not too much
4. CoQ10. Researchers have also given coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) to people with COPD after discovering their blood levels of CoQ10 were lower than those found in healthy people.
5. Avoid smoking and second-hand smoke. Exposure to other respiratory irritants, such as air pollution, dust, toxic gases, and fumes, may aggravate COPD and should be avoided when possible.
6. Install an air ionizer-cum-purifier next to her bed or an air-purifying aircon.

Hi i am thinking of hiring a full time maid to take care of my mum a nd my household too. hope ti helps. is it hard or how to apply for maid here. is it expensive. i am hoping i can afford,. how much salary range. i am hoping i can use like taking care of sick mum to apply so that she can have a maid for her. how 's that, is it good idea, i am going to looik out soon.
i am really stress, either i care her myself and not working or have maid. i am afraid it is drastic to stay and care, (even i love it) , but i give maid a try first. at least i can concentrate on mum and kids. -
