thnx. but who will be so free to guide me? lol.Originally posted by Devil1976:I had almost the same problem as you. The KEY is to LISTEN to your class and UNDERSTAND no matter how much you hate the teacher... Tell yourself you don't hate that subject and has to be responsible to yourself... The more you FEAR and AVOID it, the WORSE the situation would get....
For Maths, don't JUST DO IT.... UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE DOING... It's always GOOD to have someone who KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT'S GOING ON to GUIDE YOU by your side...

too chim le. dun understand.Originally posted by nightzip:ahh....
then we must always double-check...
we find that 2^(1+2) = 2^3 = 8
which is corect!![]()
hahaha but sometimes it's worth the $$$Originally posted by crucifiedx:thnx for ur comment. but i dun like tution. when i study, i need to have someone around so that i can clarify my doubts. for me, i think tution = wasting $$.
easier to understandOriginally posted by crucifiedx:lol. why better ?
ok. but i no $$.Originally posted by smudgey:hahaha but sometimes it's worth the $$$
if not later u study with friend, if he wrong you two both wrong together...
better to spend money and get the concept straight first
errrr.... he or she or shim.... heheheOriginally posted by crucifiedx:ok. but i no $$.
what makes u think that i will be studying with a 'he' ?
i dunno him..Originally posted by Chelzea:tamago can teach uhe beri smart 1

they too arrogant..Originally posted by Devil1976:By the way, we used to have PEER TUTORING SESSIONS by classmates of HIGH SCORES..![]()
FIND the RIGHT people.. Not all are like that.. No need to find the HIGHEST ONES... Just someone who knows his / her stuff well enough will do...Originally posted by crucifiedx:they too arrogant..
erm. normally, i dun study with friends of the same age.Originally posted by Devil1976:FIND the RIGHT people.. Not all are like that.. No need to find the HIGHEST ONES... Just someone who knows his / her stuff well enough will do...![]()
Think about it:Originally posted by crucifiedx:what if im not plannng to take engineering?
This is one example of what I meant by more complex Upper Secondary concepts (natural logarithms) making use of simpler Lower Sec maths (simple linear equations).Originally posted by nightzip:ok....let's see...
2^(x+2) = 8
So we have to take down the power....
and we log (ln) throughout....
becomes...
ln 2^(x+2) = ln 8
==> (x+2) ln 2 = ln 2^3
or (x+2) ln 2 = 3 ln 2
so we cancel ln 2, becomes
x+2 = 3
so, x = 3-2 = 1 !
tada!![]()

i thought is just mental comparison => answer = 1?Originally posted by nightzip:ok....let's see...

So why not try something not so 'normally'?Originally posted by crucifiedx:erm. normally, i dun study with friends of the same age.

ok. thnx.Originally posted by fudgester:Think about it:
If I'm still using Lower Sec maths in NUS, what makes you think you won't use it in Upper Sec? Whether or not you will be studying engineering is not the issue here.
Your Upper Sec maths will basically be built upon the foundation that you built in Lower Sec. You will be handling more complicated concepts, but you will still have to fall back upon your basic Lower Sec maths to solve them.
You don't have your Sec 1 textbook? Then go down to Bras Basah Complex and buy a second-hand textbook. The sylaabus might be different, but it can't be too different.
