A unit in a flat with 2 bedrooms at presently is too small to fit my parents,my grandparents, my two sisters and I. If sold, we will be living in a single living room.Originally posted by missqi:How about selling the house and buying a smaller place?
Use the cash to find the loan etc etc etc.
The problem with loan is interests. Is there any interest-free loan?Originally posted by udontknowme:the uni SHOULD have loans for students...

Why they insisted Interest? Poor people should be assisted and not to be left behind. Education is a way to reduce the gap between riches and poors. We Poor after education will be a social beneficial to the society. We will payback the principal and not run away with the moneyOriginally posted by missqi:As much as I hate to say it; there is no free lunch.
You have to pay interest for borrowing money.
Please go speak to the uni counsellor, and try to get subsidies for textbooks or whatever k.
I hate to say this, but as it is they've already thrown you a bone by charging interest only after you graduate.Originally posted by Meilin86:Why they insisted Interest? Yes Yes fudgester. You really understand me. I understand your agony too Thanks for your support.Originally posted by fudgester:I hate to say this, but as it is they've already thrown you a bone by charging interest only after you graduate.
I know it sucks, but that's the way it has to be. I know what it feels like. I'm currently taking two loans totalling 100% of my tuition fees. My parents don't give me any pocket money at all; I give tuition three times a week to support myself. By the time I graduate, I'll have total liabilities on the order of around $25,000.
When NUS increased their tuition fees for two years in a row, you know that I made a huge amount of noise.
All I can say is to approach the school financial counsellors who ought to be able to work out some sort of financial aid for you. With both parents jobless and a large number of dependents in the household, your sister ought to be eligible for some financial aid.
If all else fails, take out a loan. It sucks, but the suckier thing is to have to worry over money while studying.
