Anyone dislikes the Harsh Corporate World in Singapore?

Ever since after graduation and jobless for few months, i found my first job in Raffles Place.
I find that i am very stressed working in this corporate environment. Go home late everyday with unfinished work which is unpossible to clear. It is so harsh, meeting the expectation of my bosses and supervisors.
Gossips and backstabbing. I am turned off by the people in there wearing formal clothes carrying office bag. Almost everyone has a serious look on their face.No smiling face. You can see that in MRT or taking a lift.
The hot weather and heavy crowd on lunch time drained my energy,and I always have this chronic headache problem at work. The headache is still with me now at home, Panadol seem useless.
It is different from primary, secondary school and JC,uni where i had gone through in the past, where laughter is everywhere.
Sometimes, I aslo have to bring work home to do. No social life.
I can't imagine myself working in there until I am old or retrenched. I can't find any happiness in life, in Singapore. My friends aslo tell me they had the same problems and we talked about it. There is why Singapore has the among the lowest happiness index.
I wonder if others have the same problem. Share your problem and opinion.

yea i got the same problem. now my new job alot of things to do, multitask. my previous job is the opposite, can talk cok with colleague den everyday happy go work, happy go home, not much stress haha. but now, my job i dun find myself laughing le... haix...

Yes in the past people can easily ask you to sign up a fixed deposit savings plan you can only take out your money with slightly more interest than a normal savings plan.
Coz you think that saving for the future is Good , they think that saving to their pockets is better.

school and Poly/ JC life is one stage..
Next stage is working life and cannot be compared to school life..What you are going thru now is that you are adapting to the working life slowly and it will suck in the beginning..But slowly you will feel fine.. This is normal

well its normal in sg... where u work very high chance theres the gossip, politics, backstabbing... n dun get fooled by non office wearing jobs, its happens there too... even ppl smiling to u daily also cannot trust cos tats also common backstabbing technique so beware.... tis is sg so hv to live with it or else joing the sg overseas forumers... i also hate all this politics but theres no way u can change it... best is social service, nothing to chase for nothing to hate for... go into tat line if u wan..Originally posted by Meilin86:Ever since after graduation and jobless for few months, i found my first job in Raffles Place.

Since you are 20 years old, of course you are still playful, want to laugh with your friends. That is normal.
Dont be overwhelmed when you see serious faces. They put serious faces because they are doing serious things and want to be professional. Just try to concentrate on work. You can chit chat with your colleagues during lulls, or talk to guys, or also chit chat during lunch.
Try have a social life outside your work. Since you work late hours, then you must maximize your weekends.
Also I notice you say you are overworked. See if you can make any efficiencies. Observe your work flows and work process and try to improve efficiency. This can range from saving time photocopying, or prioritizing, or breaking up similar tasks.

im getting tired of living in spore. i wish i had a chance to migrate. to US? to scotland? living standard is high here, ple arent friendly and everywhere u see, typical sporean, including myself. environment causes changes in us. we struggle to survive n at times we have to betray our pride.

yeah raffles place is very sad. sometimes i go there meet friends its a sea of glum faces, the women is either old ladies or girls with too much make up. i bet if ppl conduct happiness survey there it will be 0 on scale of 0-100.
i also worked at raffles place before temp job high stress, no fun. lunch break so crowded everybody seems very cold and automated.
u urself said u dont want to continue doing this for ever. so u shld start looking for a more satisfying job, if u not under any contract
remember happiness is the ultimate goal in life. being a salaryman for life sucks.
