Anyone dislikes the Harsh Corporate World in Singapore?

I guess your question is pretty obvious. Gossips and backstabbing. I am turned off by the people in there wearing formal clothes carrying office bag. Almost everyone has a serious look on their face.No smiling face. You can see that in MRT or taking a lift.
The hot weather and heavy crowd on lunch time drained my energy,and I always have this chronic headache problem at work. The headache is still with me now at home, Panadol seem useless.
It is different from primary, secondary school and JC,uni where i had gone through in the past, where laughter is everywhere.
Sometimes, I aslo have to bring work home to do. No social life.
I can't imagine myself working in there until I am old or retrenched. I can't find any happiness in life, in Singapore. My friends aslo tell me they had the same problems and we talked about it. There is why Singapore has the among the lowest happiness index.
I wonder if others have the same problem. Share your problem and opinion.
when they work, they complain these and that, all they look forward to is lunch-break and end of the day, only to have the same thing repeating itself.
Nobody likes the sunken face, unhappiness, but that's the harsh fact of life. f we don't follow, we will risk our jobs and our pay to support our basic needs to survive.
Quite worrying futre ahead, don't you think? -
I think we are too used to the Singaporeean lifestyle. Maybe we should go abroad and experience the foreign lifestyle, FIRST HAND, and then weigh the pros and cons before we think which is better.
Not all of us who are not too fond of the current Singapore "system" can take the alternate "system" of other countries. -
maybe it's time for u to find a job that u u enjoy?or jus take a couple of breaks during the day so that u can better socialise with ur colleagues?

i had a job that i liked and enjoyed.
knn, ever since my former colleague got the promotion to GM things started to change. i ended up resigning without a job because i cannot stand her nonsense.

yeah raffles place is very sad. sometimes i go there meet friends its a sea of glum faces, the women is either old ladies or girls with too much make up. i bet if ppl conduct happiness survey there it will be 0 on scale of 0-100.
i also worked at raffles place before temp job high stress, no fun. lunch break so crowded everybody seems very cold and automated.
u urself said u dont want to continue doing this for ever. so u shld start looking for a more satisfying job, if u not under any contract
remember happiness is the ultimate goal in life. being a salaryman for life sucks. -

after working for 4 months... hai... now then i know job matching is so important. The job should match the personality and temperament of the worker. otherwise everyday drag the feet to work...

Regarding your complaints, it's normal lah... first of all, everyone complains when they go into an entirely new environment because they are not used to it... i'm sure your guys frens all complain a lot about army life when they first went in right? After that, they all get used to it liao and never complain much liao...
As for you, age is a problem... you're still so young but already in the working world... naturally you find it hard to adapt to the serious and hectic kind of lifestyle.... you still have the mindset of a young person - relax, play, fun friendships, etc etc...
So once again, I would urge you to find some ways to get a degree... it will benefit your career in the future, as well as bring you back to school life for the time being cos u're still young... -

I now also 20. Juz out of NS now have to work part time till August next year then enter Uni.
I work customer service everyday get fark by customer only and pay also like crap. But when I compare to my NS, I think I still better off here.
I think its hard to find work that is enjoyable but I think friends play a important part in work life. At least in NS you survive on your friends.
Its lidat one.

Can we go out of the office halfway for a break? It is torturing to stay in a office building for more than 9 hours a day. I always have this spinning headache if I stay in that enclosed place for too long, not sure if it is migrane.

Depends on how strict your boss there is.
For me when I online with a customer, there is alreay another 100 waiting for me. I can't even SMS or something lor. My house catch fire I also duno.. Lol touch wood.
You working as temp staff? Admin side isit?
Almost have to join you in searching for some place to sit in Raffles Place coz I got alot of temp job offer to work Admin/Data entry there.
Since you can't quit, juz LLST lor. What to do?
But I advise you go finish your degree. You been through A lvls le, so tough and you got a place in Uni, why not finish it? -
Anyway, your headache is not a physical problem la.
Its a psychological one. You don't like that place and I know got alot of things troubling you so auto your head will give u headache or your stomach will give u stomach-ache one.
If you positive, it will go away one. Last time starting in BMT I also lidat. But I learn to live and get on wif it lor. -

I am doing accounting at my workplace, facing the computer 9 hours in the office everyday until my eyes were caught in flame.
If anyone have problems in this corporate world, we can share and discuss here.
