like i said on my earlier post..Originally posted by laoda99:Race is an issue.
And religion is already a big headache. Surely both of u would want each other to convert.
Relationship/marriage is not just abt two individuals. It is abt family/society. Either u or her must be prepared to be rejected by ur own family/society. Can u or her bear the consequences?
U already said....not sure of the girl side.Originally posted by ifish:like i said on my earlier post..
race is not an issue.. there are a couple of my grand uncles who married a chinese lady.. so its not really an issue on my side. not sure of the girl side.
the only main problem is the religion

ermm y so? arent they similar?Originally posted by laoda99:U already said....not sure of the girl side.
Back to the religion problem....one of u will have to compromise in the end. And if ur ex-gf is a Christian, it is more difficult for ur situation than Gauze (whose gf is a catholic).
Generally, a Catholic would be able to accept their spouse of a different faith.Originally posted by ifish:ermm y so? arent they similar?
i belief it's only the religious thingy which is pulling our relationship apartOriginally posted by Yunhaier:I was confused by your words too - until Laoda clarify for me.
Of course, my stand only applies if both of you are in love with one another. If she is uncertain about the relationship (but she has feelings for you) just because of the religion thingy, it's up to you to convince her if this issue is manageable and if she is able to accept the challenge.
Love must be in place before you could work to resolve this conundrum - a soldier can only fight if he understands the cause he is fighting for. If you two are in a relationship, then that will apply.
Of course, if she rejected you for reasons other than just religion, then it's another case altogether.
Cheers

never really thought that the problem could reach up to the community level..Originally posted by laoda99:Generally, a Catholic would be able to accept their spouse of a different faith.
For Christians it is harder.
And religion issue will involve community issues also. So it actually overlaps into race.
My family is facing similiar problems like u too.

Haha. One thing i dun like abt minahs is that some of them likes to show off their "hoo hoo" and when they mingle with "mats" they tend to act cool. tt's my view on minahs la. and i,too, dun connect well with minahs. IMO,cheena girls are slightly better..more demure.Originally posted by ifish:Phew... i thought im the only odd one out..![]()

For me it's not so much about my preferring Chinese girls more. For me it's just that Minahs seem to make up a huge proportion of the population of Malay girls. And seriously, I have nothing in common with Mats and Minahs - to put it bluntly, I can't stand their ways.Originally posted by felirox:Haha. Wow. This is the first time I feel so much supported for the relationship. Thank you for the VERY beautiful post Yunhaier. It reached the heart.Originally posted by Yunhaier:.......Should I burn in hell for relating such blasphemous thoughts, it's because thou art (love) to me a delicious torment. Aaaahhhhhh, don't be jealous. Behind closed doors.... *shakes head and laughs*Originally posted by ifish:ermm... me too is jealous of gauze..
about my family, my parents wont care if i married a baboon as long as she is an islam. As for the girl, her parent are buddhist. (yea, only her and her brother are christian). Not sure whether her parents accept her attach being with other race.
Now wad i want to find out is whether its possible to carry on loving and caring for each other just like gauze and his partner with such tremendous amount of pressure from friends and religious people?
not that i want to make gauze think or anything but i would like to ask, how long can they carry on believeing in the different religion. At some point of time, im sure there will be conflict between religion for example marriage
Afterall, love is about compromising each other beliefs. But how much can one compromise each other?
and yea i dont fully understand the post by Yunhaier. The england too powderful![]()
While we say about "born free" and all that stuff, the sad reality in life is it is often not so. We all are living with people, not just the two of us in a relationship, and we must bear with the consequences for whatever decisions we make.Originally posted by Gauze:Will it get creepy if I admit I share the same tastes as ifish, fudgester and felixrox?

You said love is about compromising beliefs. In this topic, its religious beliefs. So if I want love, I have to sell out my convictions for another doctrine's absurdity just so I can remain romantically involved. Is that how it is?
Pressures from others, I think they are self perpetuating their own crutch - their own dreams and their own insecurity. But remember, you are born free lehz. That freedom is estrangement. In that estrangement, you can be as honest as you want.
Anyway, its scary to go through also. Am I prepared to see my girl turning into a stray cat? Can I be good enough to love her? When she laments for her family secretly, what can I do?
I don't know for myself. Its an on going thing. Ill be observing.
Nah... all it means is that we're all in the same club.Originally posted by Gauze:Will it get creepy if I admit I share the same tastes as ifish, fudgester and felixrox?
