  This is superbly pathetic. This is definitely a hoax. I was an instructor before. Firstly if I am on duty and have to book in with the recruits after x'mas holidays, I definitely will expect lots of recruits missing whether for any valid reason or not. I am damn pissed because I have to be on duty when all other instructors book in next day or even next yr so i don't bother to call recruits who are missing so just let them suffer, if their reasons are not genuine, not supported by mcs or other evidence, thats what law is about.
  
  My time was way different compared to now. NS 2 years instead of 2.5, 5-day week, no hardcore chin up regime etc so much welfare because Singapore is now a complain country...what can u ask for?
  
  There are 2 conclusions, either this guy is an attention seeker who has no life but to tell hoax or he's the biggest shame of the male gender. Both ways please shutdown or even erase this whole thread thank you. Let Singapore know that all fighting fit men in this country are really.....men in heart and soul and not otherwise.

  a lot of u have pointed out that why does he have civillian clothes in his bag when he is in BTMC.
  
  i think that he has been contemplating AWOL for some time, so he put civillian clothes in his bag so that he can change into them if he decides to AWOL on his way 2 BTMC.
  
  therefore i think that him having civillan clothes in his bag is entirely possible, given his state of mind.

  Have u ever try field trip every single week? Have u ever 2 man carry a fuking 120mm mortar tube and fuking running around the exercise camp? Have u ever try leopard crawl on the mud to beg forgiveness from ur Stff Sgt? Have u ever try dozing off in the night during field exercise and bloody dream of ur damn Stff Sgt and screaming i the middle of the dead night? We have even been humiliated to the stage of having our damn food thrown on the ground and asking us to gobble it up in pumping position like a dog....Have u ever try Non stop change parade during midnight from our 4th floor bunk to the basement carpark? Have u bloody try defaulters parade every single day?
  
  We were train so damn hard and so jialat until we achieve a 98% gold for IPPT, those 5 dudes i remember that got silver got confinement.
  
  If u think some tekan or scolding for 3months BMT is jialat...are u telling me that last time when i was tekan like no life and having a life worse than dog our whole platoon should just all commit suicide!!!

  1stly if u awol for more than a period of days(i think 10days or 1mth) , u will be put under deserter list , awol report will put up n u cannot leave the country .
  
  2ndly u will be running away nt from saf but police, customs n traffic police too .
  
  3rdly, awol is nt the solution , in fact it is a catalyst for more problems .Once u r classified under deserter , u most likely kena db .N DB sentence will add on to ur ORD date(since u hate army don prolong the duration) .
  
  4thly , having a sentence in db will be a record in ur life . It is like a criminial record which will deter ur future .
  
  Lastly , bmt is nothing wait till u see my db mps .
  
  Solution,
  
  call ur immediate superior , explain the whole story to him. U can seek help from pc n maybe mo if need be . they can access u n downgrade ur pes if u r genuine case. If u report to ur immediate superior , they MIGHT jus let u off with extras .

  I've probably had a harder BMT than most people here, honestly. Anyone had all your belongings including underwears dumped in shit water in the field with 3 days of outfield left? Anyone made to crawl in shit n pee? But I'm not gonna go around calling people sissy for not being able to take the modern training.
  
  Everyone is different, everyone has a different threshold for tolerance. You just have to respect that there are individual differences in people.
  
  And for someone under severe anxiety and/or depression, you cannot just insult them and expect them to "snap" out of it. If this is a genuine case, this boy needs professional counselling. If its genuine, I believe the army will take care of it.

  But some things have to be done means have to be done
  You are giving not only yourself problems,but also your sec comd,PC,OC tones of problems as they are deemed to be at fault too for not knowing where their men are.
  Anyway i think the best thing for u is to call ,faster take MC from the nearest GP,just explain that u are real sick and felt alsleep loh,no choice.

  Whether u like it or not u still have to serve ns,if u really dun like,try to think of some good ways to protect yourself,downl\grade report sick,etc before carrying out something,don't be a foolish person and awol and give you and your superiors problems.don't forget your sec comd pc are also just NSFS,they themselves may also don't like the idea of booking in too.

  1. its 8 day leh.. after that u supposed to follow up with an absentee report, every 7-8 days. after 28 days, Once u are declred a deserter, auto court marshall once u kana caught de leh.
  
  2. db record doesnt really follow u for life, unless u commited an offence contravening the penal code. However there might be a problem getting in civil service, tats all~
  
  3. db although tough, cannot be compared to the olden days lah~ however, from my understanding, the current provost CO is not very kind to detainees~ many stories~
